“Very nice establishment. Stopped in for lunch. Had the sweet potatoes hummus and grilled salmon. Service was great and very friendly. Food was spot on. Exactly on point for a place named the local. Approachable. Delicious. Not too much. Nothing I’m giving a Michelin star, but left feeling satisfied with taste buds a buzzing. Only minor complaint is it was a cold day and a little chilly inside. You picture a local as being warm and cozy. They had a fire on the TV. And speaking of props for not unnecessarily showing whatever chive or mindless programming on the TV. It’s there if there is a special game but otherwise the atmosphere is much better with nothing on.”

“I was excited to try Norte, but it has room for improvement. The food was made with high quality ingredients for all the items we had (volcan tostada, pastor taco, Campechano quesadilla). The only problem was the food was just soooooooo greasy. So greasy that it made your stomach hurt while eating the food. The plate was covered in grease, fingers as well. I would correct on how greasy the items and then it is the correct set up! Pastor was so so tasty - highly recommend this!”

“This was our third stop as my wife and I came to Austin to hit up a few breweries. The place is very nice and the lady behind the bar was very friendly. You’d think that New Years Eve they’d have a good crowd but it was dead. So I didn’t order anything because I was going to wait a bit but she ordered a local canned cider, she didn’t like it so I ordered her a michelada, worst attempt at a michelada I’ve ever seen. She got discouraged afer that I closed out and we went to try to find another spot. Overall, nice place, friendly staff but that michelada needs some work.”

More often than not, restaurants that have mixed cuisine seem to be a half/half on the quality because it’s not focused on one type of cuisine. It doesn’t apply here because the chefs have different backgrounds, adding a home touch of the dishes. I live down the street from his place and frequent here often and I can’t say enough about the quality of the meal, the hospitality and the overall takeaway. “Honestly, this is my new favorite place to get a well priced burger! Their smash burger is fresh, a fantastic size, wonderfully flavored and very filling. The veggies are fresh af and I cannot get enough of the fries!! The burger comes with fries and is only $11- hell yeah! I’m really looking forward to trying other things on the menu. Also, the little store itself has a fancy version of everything so it’s super fun to walk around while you wait on your food to be ready. It’s clean, it’s cute, their clerks are so friendly. I also enjoyed the 90’s playlist while I shopped. Highly recommend!”

“Unexpected, but trust me, try a burger. The absolute best burger I have had in Austin, and comes with seasoned fries, for $10.00. Warning though, you have to like spicy...if you don't, I am sure they can leave off the spice and heat, if you ask. They are taking away the tacos, and adding 20 more Indian food items. No place to sit...take out. Nice store though too, with lots of good wine choices, and a nice selection of salsas, interesting shelf items and such, including pet food. “I was so happy to see an El Alma closer to my house. I was every happier to see they had a brunch menu! We had the Steak and Eggs and the Salsa Verde Pork & Eggs. We liked both dishes, but the pork was my favorite. I also highly recommend the avocado margarita if you haven't tried one before. It's delicious and suuuuper smooth. Our server was super friendly and gave great recommendations as well. Give this place a try!”
