“Veteran-owned business with a story that will make you proud to support. The gelato is a dream come true. For the first time, I was able to enjoy my favorite treat without an upset stomach. Every flavor is high protein and sweetened with dates instead of cane sugar. We picked up a pint 2 nights ago (killed it), went back last night for another (killed it), and will be back again tonight for two more (those won't last either). We haven't made our way through all of the flavors yet, but our favorites so far are "We Woke" (chocolate espresso) and the banana pudding.”

“Went to Copa on a lazy Sunday. Didn't expect too much but everything blew us away. First we ordered wings for an appetizer which were alright. I ordered lamb skewers for my meal which were incredible. Everything was mouth watering and melted in my mouth. My partner got the flat bread which was good. I highly recommend the lamb skewers and side potatoes. The atmosphere was very relaxing and we never felt rushed. It's a great place for a relaxed date.”

“Wanted to come for a quick happy hour with coworkers. The bar was totally packed at 4:30 and the dining area was a ghost town. Didn't fill up at all during our time there and happy hour didn't extend to the dining area. Totally fine and understandable but didn't seem like the restaurant was receptive to people who weren't sitting down for a full dinner, even if they were paying full price. The beers the party ordered were very underfilled, two to three fingers below the top of the glass. One party member got a great cocktail, another said hers was lemon juice and almost no liquor. My biggest concern is the bar being a fire hazard, however. People were so packed in that no one could move. They spilled in front of the only exit on that floor and staff made no attempt to keep the exit clear. There's no way a crowd that thick was legal. Hopefully these were opening week issues that will be resolved with experience and time. But I'll wait before going back.”

“They have great pizzas to offer, and a handful of decent beers and wines. No full selection of kids meals, just their specialties adapted to kids. The flow of customers is a little different--order at the counter, then they seat you. This ends up working fine. In the first week they were open, they did not take take-out orders. Not sure if that has changed yet, or when it will. I am sure they will start take-out when the kitchen has its legs.”

“I am a Calabash, N.C. "The Seafood Capital of the World" regular patron. Fan since childhood. Slapfish isn't Calabash. My first time here. The lady that helped us "T", was friendly and helpful, very customer focused. Good sales lady. We ordered all the items on the slappy hour menu. I may butcher the names and/or items; Lobster taquitos great. fish tacos are grilled fish, lots of cabbage and sauce. Interesting sauces on everything. The chowder was definitely my favorite. Wow. Why not 5 stars? I personally wasn't a fan of the fried pickles or the salsa (chips and salsa), and I've never seen or heard of any of their soft drink machine selection. I tasted them all and didn't like any. But overall the entire dinner was excellent and lots of new flavors and taste.”

I didn't try their gourmet donuts or their Intelligentsia coffee, but I did try the butternut squash soup (deliciously spiced and creamy) and the veggie sandwich (flavorful on good quality bread). I definitely want to come back and try out the desserts. There were some people hanging out with coffee on their laptops and some families with young kids. “Easily 5 Stars for the Commentary in Arlington, recently launched in a brilliantly designed and modern space, is going to be one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. The food is *really* good. Modern American fare with well-executed classics made with quality ingredients paired with great drinks. We honestly could not decide which appetizer to order because they all sounded so good. Although I am not gluten free, my wife is, and I almost ordered one of the Gluten Free dishes just because it sounded so great. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Also really good service which seems more and more rare these days. The space is cool - and open, but not loud at all, which is perfect. We'll be back next week. Glad to have this new great option right in the heart of Ballston.”
