“My visit to Salamander was not a stay this time, but for a special reunion, and I have to say, this is a Sweet Escape! Nestled in Virginia’s own wine country, surrounded by lush green trees, fields, vineyards, and courtyards, the Five Star rating from Forbes is absolutely well justified! The service in the restaurant from host staff to bar tender, food and drinks were exquisite! I toured the grounds, the spa, and the special venues which were well kept and manicured, accompanied with a friendly, attentive staff. Salamander offers world class luxury in this hidden gem of Middleburg, near The Plains, and Marshall, right outside of Washington, D.C. I visited all three and each one is beautifully quaint, and inviting for all! Local, homemade, can’t find it anywhere else sort of things! This is a place where I shall have my wedding!”

“It’s such an amazing and beautiful venue, with quality service!! The only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the restrictions now in place at the tower view, requiring reservations only. The beauty of being able to mow around and talk to people we miss so much over the last few years and now that we can be normal again I would love to see the tower view area open up, the boars head room I get it remembers only that’s nice as well and I’m a member so I enjoy that but I really loved for people to be able to pop in to the tower view area without having to have reservations and just enjoy that beautiful winery! UPDATE! They have opened up the venue for pop in visits! They also reached out to tell me this, Just another reason why I love Stone Tower! Thank you!”

“This place is kind of a hidden gem. My wife and I stopped in to kill time while the kids were at a birthday party, and to our surprise it was tasting time! We enjoyed a very pleasant tasting experience. The staff were fun and knowledgeable. They also have a variety of beers, and you can join a club for either beer or wine. The inside space is nice and relaxed, and you can sip outside as well. They offer light food to go with your beer or wine as well. I recommend checking them out if you are in South Riding.”

“I just took the basic pistol certification course. It was a great course for me. All I knew about pistols was that the pointy end faced the target. The instructor Cati was great and made the 4 hours fly by, Her knowledge of firearms is massive. The facility is top notch and the staff is very helpful and are willing to answer all of your questions about firearms. Since my membership is just for shooting I do not use the fitness part of the club but it is state of the art with its equipment and offers all sort of group exercise classes. We really enjoyed meeting the assistant manager Grace she went out of her way to make us feel welcome. She showed us around the restaurant and bar portion of the club which is very sheik and the food is fantastic. After taking the basic pistol course I feel more confident while using a semi automatic pistol. I look forward to my next visit to X-Cal to shoot on my own and take some of the more advanced classes.”
