Lunch was such a treat! The cafe dining room was cozy and comfortable. The food was delectable right down to the delicious ice cream served in the king’s chalice for dessert. A stop at the bakery to grab a nice cup of their drip coffee and a slice of carrot cake is a must! We look forward to dining again soon for dinner.
What a treat to get to experience Patty O’s yesterday after a very rainy drive down. The cafe is welcoming outside and in with a warming fireplace and attentive staff. We enjoyed delicious apple rhubarb soup and shared the perfectly cooked medium rare burger on a buttery brioche roll which left room just barely for the very best carrot cake. I also saw the cake available in the rear bakery in perfect smaller single person portions. Probably will stop there today as we leave. They were still getting their feet under them as is expected at a soft opening which they offered at reduced prices on the final bill. Areas of improvement were two, french fries need to reach the table warm to match the burger and I hope the stemless glasses for chilled white wine are replaced with stemmed. Without a stem your hands warm the glass and then the wine, ok for red but never for white. Would definitely visit again. Best of luck and thank you to them.
An amazing lunch with the even more amazing bar man Chris Porter.
Tonight was my first night visiting the cafe and it is every thing I expected and more. It’s beautiful, inside and out! It has the same feeling of luxury and service you get when entering the Inn but is more casual, warm and inviting as well as true to the heritage of Rappahannock county and France! I was surprised to hear country music but was so impressed and proud as well. I’m a bit of a hybrid with deep family roots in the county but grew up in Fairfax. Chef Patrick hit a home run with this place and I’m so excited for their success. It fills in all the gaps of what’s missing (fantastic menu of food/wine/martinis in a cozy/classy setting with great music/atmosphere, baked goods and coffee at a reasonable price) and checks all the boxes of greatness. I can’t wait to go back…a lot. 😊 Thank you so much to the bar staff in particular for such a welcoming and hospitable evening. They are true professionals while being genuine and show passion for what they do and who they represent.
Fantastic!!!!
