I had a great time at River City Roll! I was able to easily make a reservation online. When we arrived the staff was friendly and helpful. I loved the basket with our shoes and the whole check-in process was super easy. This was my first time playing Hyperbowl and it was super fun! What a cool twist on bowling. I was having so much fun and the staff was able to fit in an extra 30 minutes for us to finish out game. The food was served in a timely manner and it was very yummy. If you're looking to bowl in RVA this is the place to go!
We had a great time at River City Roll! My husband and I wanted to find a place that was group and kid friendly for the day after our wedding. We were able to get 2 lanes next to each other for 2 hours as well as 2 large tables to accommodate a very large party of people that were all coming and going at different times. The staff was attentive and nice. The drinks were really really good! And the food hit the spot. The bowling was fun as well but mostly I enjoyed having space to just hang out. It ended up being a nice day so people were able to enjoy the outdoor space as well. Definitely a good option for a big group.
Had a great time here! Excellent experience. Approach area is smaller than normal. But overall a fun experience and good food!
Very happy with our experience. We came on a rainy Sunday morning, had great service. We told them it was our first time and the employee was great telling us how the bowling worked (pricing, timing, etc). The bowling screens had fun educational facts and stats on them as well. The atmosphere was great, definitely will be going back.
A great experience IF you know what you are getting into...
If you are expecting a family friendly evening at a bowling alley, this is not the place for you. If you are a 20/30 something looking for a place to bowl with friends, eat some snacks, and sip some cocktails/mocktails while you hang out-- this is a great spot.
- Target age group: 20s and 30s
-Must make a reservation for a lane on a weekend evening (and I recommend any evening)
-Know you have a time limit, the lane will probably not be ready on time, but you will be expected to leave after your allotted time
-Food & drinks ares $$ but yummy (better than expected at a bowling alley)
-Service is slow/a bit confusing
My wife and I both held birthday party events here and they were accommodating of our large groups (we notified them in advance and reserved the appropriate amount of lanes). The staff is very friendly but service is slow for drinks and there can be some confusion between who ordered what and who is serving which lane and if you order with the person who walks around lane to lane every now and then or at the bar (this is the reason for my 4 star rating vs 5 star).
I've had a blast every time I've gone to RCR and my friends have as well. It is right across from Scott's Addition so parking can be tight, I suggest carpooling and having fun!
