“My Dad turned 66 this week and we got together for an early dinner at The Village Inn because everyone knows they have the best pies. Our food was delicious, my dad had the potpie that is "just like Grandma used to make" while the rest of us had breakfast for dinner. But what the really special thing about The Village Inn tonight wasn't the pie, it was our waitress, Renae, who was a great balance of friendly, social, and professional. She answered every question we had, got my "challenging order" perfect, and checked on us just the right amount of times. We had everything we needed for a casual birthday dinner. Great pies, great food, and great staff- that's why we keep returning to The Village Inn.”

“The location is excellent with stellar road frontage on Virginia Beach Blvd. The business is a Town Center original anchor. It has survived a down economy and seems to be well positioned with an ever growing number of craft beer drinkers in Tidewater. Parking is plentiful and free by street, or nearby garage. I looked over the menu which has American fare and offers standard appetizers, salads, sandwiches and mains. I always love testing a burger out and this would be my first here. I ordered The California which has crushed avocados, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and 1000 island dressing for $11.49 and comes with a side. My burger was delivered by the bartender within 15 minutes and was cooked correctly and paired with garlic fries. The cheeseburger was at least a quarter pound and quite tasty. I love avocados, but it didn't seem to work for me as it was not fresh. I found the beef to be quality. The fries were hot and a big hit, just not many of them.”

“The review is for the bar area and staff. If anyone in your party has limited walking abilities know that the parking can be horrible, very limited parking nearby. Although, there are garages nearby and there is paid valet service (after 5pm). We have eaten in the restaurant section a couple of times, but it was very slow (they were not crowded). So now we enjoy our time either at the bar or in the bar area. Their happy hour food and drink specials are good. I love the hamburger. The bartenders can be hit or miss - sometimes they don’t seem like they want your business and other times they can’t wait to be of service. But, as long as you have someone there with you to enjoy your time with just sit back and go with the flow. They do offer outdoor seating and the staff is always helpful out there.”

“Five Guys has a fantastically clean location. When you create your burger you can select any number of toppings. For a guy like me, this means very odd combinations but always delicious. You won't wait very long for your food and I've never had a bad Burger. The fries are delicious but a bit greasy. I had the seasoned fries but I don't believe I will do so again as the seasoning is a bit course. Price wise I believe they are slightly more expensive but once you take into account the unlimited toppings it easily equals out. My wife and I may go there again if we really feel like indulging.”

“I attended this location during its run as Press Wine Bar. It was fantastic. Riptide is okay the decor looks exactly like Press with Tiki Bar elements added. I ordered the calamari which was delicious, a coconut mojito which was so-so and the steak skewers. The steak skewers tastes like they were steamed and had little flavor beyond the beef taste. I don’t know why I expected them to be grilled. These were $17. Our waitress probably checked on us 10-15 times during our 1.5 hour visit. My friend ordered the tuna which we also thought was supposed to be grilled but it came out lukewarm and also lacked taste. We mentioned this to our waitress and she did not seem to care or notice the sauce for the tuna was missing. The owner/manager came over and was very nice and apologetic for the meal. She explained they just opened and were still getting their bearings. Maybe I’ll be back here for a happy hour solely due to the customer service offered by the manager.”
