I had heard of this restaurant for many, many years before I ultimately settled on trying it on Thursday August 26th. Like I have said in past review specifically of sushi restaurants, I have been opening my palate.
Immediately upon entering I could appreciate the cleanliness and how neat the tables were setup. Tables for two, four and giant tables. Keep in mind however this restaurant is not huge. It is rather pretty small. It was sufficient enough but due to COVID some tables weren't available.
Now, onto the menu. I was starving so I had to get some big rolls. I knew the Tiger Roll had to be tested for quality and one specialty roll. It took me a while but I settled onto the Godzilla Roll. I was definitely a little nervous on the specialty roll but sushi chefs excel not only in presentation but also in making sure the customer itself is satisfied.
I ordered no imitation crab on both my rolls. Other than that I kept everything else the same. The first batch of sushi came with the crab but the waitress noticed as she walked to my table. I appreciate her attention to that detail and saved me from needing a emergency room visit.
When the sushi came through without the crab, I was astonished. That Godzilla Roll deserves every bit of its name; that tempura was sticking out on the first piece like Godzilla's back. Drizzled with beautiful colored sauces and slices aligned, stacked so neatly onto the plate. This roll gets a 10 in presentation, taste, delicacy and every darn element. A tad spicy but I did enjoy that.
So I tried the Tiger Roll and it was not much spefial. Definetely a 8.5 as it is not as fancy as other tiger rolls but it didn't dissapoint. Not much ontop gave it that basic most people would enjoy. I would've loved avocado and shrimp ontop but hey, it's not my recipe. I appreciate how you guys kept it basic.
Now, I can finish two rolls of sushi most of the time but this was an exception. That Godzilla roll had me on the edge all the time as I tried to finish the last 4 pieces. I decided to take them home. The crunch of that entire roll was soooo tasty and for some reason the avocado did not taste funny after being fried, it kept its freshness. That detail made me so impressed, a feat not achieved by every sushi shop.
At last, their wasabi consistency is very soft and I had never seen that before. Usually wasabi is a bit flaky but not Mori's and I enjoyed that. I could be far more precise in adding wasabi and not killing my tongue.
I will be back, I promise. I enjoyed the Godzilla roll far too much.
Update on May 27th 2022, the food is still amazing! So is the service!
Super nice place, was actually very busy but that is how it goes the food is so good. Staff is nice and the food is better. Ordered to go as well and food is ready when it's supposed to be. The to go set up is nice, food was still good by the time we got home and ate it. Support this wonderful restaurant
Cute little place, waitress was super nice. Not a fancy restaurant, casual dining, played music that was cool. We got sushi rolls, I do have my super favorite sushi restaurant, however, if I were in the area, this would be good. My daughter got the chicken teriyaki, yes it came in a boat, so fun. Salad, rice, chicken were very delicious. I got the Geisha roll because I love cream cheese, someone else recommended it in their review, it was good in flavor& texture. The wasabi was super hot, just like I like it. My other daughter got the Fuji roll, she likes a lot of different fish in her sushi, she liked the flavor of sauces& textures. They have pics on the wall so you know just what you are ordering. We also got the vegetable tempura, came with enough for 3-4 people & the portion was good sized. Dipping sauce is perfect.
This is one of those places that people never get to explore because it's in a small area that's less investigated.
I would highly recommend this sushi restaurant because I feel it's one of the nicer ones in the Tri cities.
It is too bad it's in such a small pocket in an uninvestigated area , I give them 5 stars for the excellent taste of their food
