Best tasting wine always adds spice to your foods.
One of the best meals in Seattle. It is a quiet cafe, the price is worth it. The halibut was divine.
Came for nye and was spectacular. Definitely reserve a seat at Chef’s table as half the fun is watching them cook. Very skilled and dedicated staff. Also the waiter was very very good.
Easily one of the best meals we've had since moving to Seattle! This gem is part of a growing area of Sunset Hill (aka tip of Ballard) and conveniently located for both walking to or driving. We managed to nab a reservation at the chef's counter - both are highly recommended. The space was packed when we got in and never dipped in people filling seats. Normally decor is a secondary thought for many restaurants, but Samara really nailed some smart touches that helped enhance the experience. Also a huge kudos to the staff, excellent service across the board.
The food...wow. Really stunning on execution and range of flavors, all enhanced by the wood fires they have burning. The bread was fantastic, baked in-house and a killer range (rye, potato, pretzel, etc). We tried out two vegetable dishes, Chanterelle mushrooms with corn grits and the peach salad. Even if you don't like mushrooms, we'd say give those a try! The mushrooms and grits picked up smoke from the fires, giving it this deep flavor. Frankly that could have been a meal in itself. The salad was a great balance of sweet, bitter, crunchy and herbaceous flavors. We moved on to the Halibut and pork (three ways). At that point our conversation stopped and we were focused on the deft preparation and flavors. That was one of the best pieces of halibut we've had, perfectly cooked - ditto for the roasted broccoli. The subtle take on "pork and beans" fried my mind. Smokey, salty and deep flavors were abound in this dish, the beans and resulting sauce had me wishing I kept some bread around to sop up what was left. Luckily a spoon was provided.
Desserts are also made in-house, we tried both of the main options and couldn't stop raving about them. Seriously, even if you're stuffed, try at least one.
Really impressed with everything from start to finish at Samara, can't wait to go back as soon as we can!
This place was lovely!! We had the crab, octopus and duck wings and everything was delicious. Ambiance and service is great and fantastic wine list.
