“I have not been inside this place when it was a really hip place to hang out for snow enthusiasts in the 90's but for a time it was supposedly a really hot local place. I did get a chance to look at it after it was re-opened, The inside is super nice, when I looked around I thought to myself this would be an ideal place as a sports bar. It's got a big fire place to warm up next to, warding off the area's typically cold and drab weather patterns for 2/3 of the year. Whatever is going on internally with the business, if they can navigate the personnel issues and get it back to profitability it has potential to be a hot place again in the post 2000 era. Maple falls is a difficult place to operate a business.”

“Refreshingly beautiful and modern little coffee shop near Mt Baker National Forest. Just as I was driving down from Artist Point for sunrise, I was thinking how much this area needs a little coffee stand along the road. Well, Joe’s Fine Coffee blew my idea out of the water with a much more refined creation! So glad to have found this new addition to the scene, great reprieve for coffee, pastries, breakfast burritos, WiFi, chill music, nice service and a trendy comfortable place to relax and recharge.”

“I can't say enough good things about this place. The folks running the place deserve kudos. We are greeted warmly every time we visit, and one of the owners, Eric, makes a point of coming over to greet us and inquire about our experience. Preston in the tasting room is always entertaining. Unfortunately, he has spotted my wife as an easy mark, so we never make it out without a bottle or three, all of which she promptly sends to friends and family. The cafe is great, and another owner, Julie, is always happy to educate us on the menu. While it's not a Michelin rated restaurant, their soups, salads, and sandwiches are a great complement to an hour in the fields. All in all, this is a great place for family, friends, or even social groups to meet.”

“This is an excellent pit stop after a day in the outdoors! I loved the homely/rustic feel inside with a beer bottle wall. The local staff are relatively friendly and the menu isn't too pricey. Some beers come in smaller 10oz sizes so check in advance. The combination pizza is literally dripping with delicious green olives. If you aren't drinking alcohol they also make a mean hot chocolate and have teas too. It can get very busy in peak times as it is a family friendly venue. Pizzas can be made vegan on request. #pizza”

She was a great person to talk too and she even helped us get some money off of a side with the question of the day. “My first time going to eat at Coconut Kenny's went with my boyfriend and 3 year old son. I shared a large pepperoni pizza with my 3-year-old autistic son. The pepperoni was spicy and my poor son had a hard time eating the pepperoni. My boyfriend favorite is the macaroni and cheese pizza. I can't wait to try something other than the pepperoni pizza. “I can honestly say this is the best Mexican food in all of Whatcom county, if not the best food of any type. The restaurant is small, with only about six tables, so when you walk in you are immediately greeted by Dora, the owner, who is a very kind woman who puts love and care into everything she does there. The kitchen is fully visible and immaculate. The salsa is rich in flavor. The tamales are the best I've ever had, and the prices are pretty reasonable considering this was just recently featured on Yelp as one of the 100 best restaurants in the entire country. You can and should call ahead and reserve tamales if you have specific flavors you are looking for, but honestly they are all great.”
