“Like many hidden gems in Anchorage, you sometimes have to search nondescript strip malls to find a diamond in the rough. Southside Bistro is an excellent European-style bistro and restaurant located in a strip mall in south Anchorage in the Huffman neighborhood, somewhat hidden off the main drag. There is a beautiful open kitchen, delicious food, great service and a very expansive wine list. Highly recommend”

“Polar Dip is probably the most amazing treasure find I have ever found in my travels around Alaska. The gentleman that serves up this AMAZING food knows his stuff. If you haven't gone down to grab soup and sandwichs from Polar Dip yet, I highly suggest that you do! I have had several of his sandwiches and soups and i rarely give a 5 star rating, but this guy is well deserving of it, so here you are! I look forward to my next trip into south Anchorage for another heavly bowl of soup and an amazingly crafted sandwich. My hat is off to you sir! Keep up this wizardry! Love it!”

“Texas Roadhouse is one of the first choices for us when we go out with the family. It has options for a variety of appetites and I can not think of a place that has better customer service. It has, by far, the best, most friendly and genuine staff. I have the same great experience everytime at either Anchorage location. I can not say the same for a location I tried while traveling out of state. Although I do have a usual dish, all of their meals are good and would recommend any of them.”

“The food was good, but not great. I liked their guacamole (well seasoned, good flavor), their beans were also tasty. Their salsa needs work, mild is full of large green onion chunks and hot is too heavy on maybe cilantro (not sure if I'm getting the ingredient correct) but tasted just different and wasn't hot. Drinks were great, really enjoyed the ruby red grapefruit jalapeno margarita. The drink came with a large (1/2) jalapeno garnish twice, even though I asked for muddled slices (as described on the menu) instead. I thought this was wasteful and would rather they diced and cooked it. (Hey, it's difficult to find quality produce in Alaska!) Our server was friendly and only left us waiting for things a few times. I would give them another shot. They are still a bit new and may be working out some start up bugs. Overall, good experience.”

“Dynamite Bop was delicious. They catered to my want for a level 1 sauce instead of level 3. The food was quickly prepared. The place was neat and clean and a nice laid back atmosphere. I wanted to order the Thai Tea but unfortunately they only serve with milk. Hopefully there can be a milk substitute such as coconut milk for lactose intolerant folks. Other than that. I love Top Bop.”

“Wonderful little tucked away spot for Thai in Anchorage. There is no shortage of incredible Thai in this town and this is a place I would highly recommend on the South end. The menu has a very nice sampling of lunch specials. I opted for the Spicy Wide Noodles, which were excellent. The restaurant is immaculate and the decor and music all contribute to the overall atmosphere. All of their art pieces were purchased and shipped over from Thailand. I’m not sure there can be a bad Thai Iced Tea but I really enjoyed their blend, it wasn’t overly sweetened which helped me to enjoy the flavor of the tea. The staff here is phenomenal, so friendly. They are right near the Subway Rink, so plan to go before or after your game. Also, Goodwill has a donation Xpress center right next door so bring items. They’re open between 10:00-7:00 (closed for a half hour at 2:30 for lunch).”

“I stopped by Mochileros outside of Double Shovel, and got the 3 Amigos Tacos by recommendation of Wit. Two of the tacos in the box were phenomenal. But one of them, was literally the best taco I've ever had in my life. I wish I had listened better to what kind of taco it was.. but am 100% willing to buy again to find out lol. Quick and super delicious. If you love tacos like me, you gotta give these guys a try????”
