“The Trailhead Hideaway Bar and Grill is conveniently located right at the turn-off to Mt Graham from Highway 191. A group of us stopped by after a long day of mountain biking on the freshly worked on trails on Mt Graham. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a bar and grill on the side of the highway. It looked well taken care of, and nothing stood out as being out of place or worn-out. There was a pool table, which we were told was free to use on Sunday. Our group took advantage of the pool table while we waited for our food. The menu was good and had the choices you would like. There were probably 10 plus draft beers to choose from, including a few good craft beers, which was a good surprise. I ordered a double cheese burger, and it came with some fresh cut frys. (Sorry, I forgot to get a picture of the burger) My wife ordered a grill cheese and a basket of fried mushrooms, which she said were very good. My hayz IPA beer came with an orange slice, which was different but I went with it and it was fine. The service was very good. She keep our waters and beers full and checked on us often. A small misunderstanding on our order between the waitress and the cook was quickly fixed within minutes. I could not ask for any more from our visit and look forward to visiting again on our next trip to Mt Graham.”

“Absolutely delicious! Love the food here, plus the service and outdoor seating make it a fun place for a group. The “Hangry Heifer” burger is yummy-bacon, Pepper Jack cheese and onion ring. And the sweet potato fries on the side were phenomenal! The slow cooked pork on the sweet potato fries and spicy chick sandwich are also SO good.”

“A great meal, especially for a small town. We spend a lot of time traveling and most small town restaurants serve the same old Sysco food. The salad and vegetable sides here were fresh and well prepared. Like most places that have multi-story dining rooms, the service staff is presented with the exceptionally challenging task of managing their section far away from the kitchen. Our server was super nice and did a great job, despite the logistics. Any issues with service and food temperature in this place are likely due to the physical realities of the space and staffing choices made by management. A food runner would really help out the upstairs staff, make the customer experience better and not have the kitchen staff’s efforts to put out good food undermined. A person can’t physically take the order for a large party upstairs and run food to the rest of their full section, it’s not a lack of ability on the part of the server—it’s an impossible task. Point is, this place serves great food and the service and kitchen staff are doing the best they can. Come here for a good meal, but bring your patience and give the staff some grace. We’ll be back next time we’re in town, the steak was great.”

Great selection of drinks on tap. They beat our expectations on beer flight samplers, offering 6 of their drafts on plank. Wide range of food to choose from. Friendly wait staff make the experience all the more enjoyable. This has definitely gone to the top of our list of local Safford favorites.”

I had the sink omelette (photo shows it folded over by me) and my companion had the 66 Burger. Both were good and good size portions.
