“If you enjoy comfort food this is your place! Delicious drinks, sides, great place for kids to play so you can enjoy your food, and of course Mac n Cheese!! We went for lunch today after taking our kids to Little Farm and only one worker was working the front of the house, but she was AMAZING running around and making sure the take out and dine in crowds were taken care of. Seriously she needs a raise. We enjoyed all the flavors and types and Mac and cheese and our friend was so happy to get her gluten free Mac! A quick nod to the sodas... I'm not a big soda drinker, but the ginger ale soda was the best ginger ale I've ever had. After navigating the windy Berkeley roads the soda calmed everything that needed calming down.”

“Hadn’t been to Bongo Burger in many years but I am glad that I returned. The restaurant was very clean and I was welcomed in by a lovely lady. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger and split a Persian Burger with my brother. WOW the burger really surprised me. It never clicked with me before but the Char Broiled flavor they achieve with burger patty is incredible. There are other burger spots that have varying degrees of charbroil taste, but the trade-off is typically low quality meat. That was not the case here. I could taste the quality of the meat in addition to the great Char Broil taste. The Persian burger was very unique. It was not like a traditional, plain burger but it was seasoned to perfection. Bongo Burger is going to be my go-to to fulfill my Char Broiled Dreams.”

“I happened to walk by and noticed that they had Indian spice flavored pizzas and I had to try it! The guy at the register (owner I think) was very nice and friendly and helped me pick the pizza I actually really enjoyed! Wow, the ingredients are clean and fresh and the crust is just perfect- not too thin and not too thick, perfectly crispy. The flavors are amazing and I will definitely be bringing my kids here next time! Thank you and good luck!”

“A big local favorite it is always bustling. There is a nice tree outside so people can sit outside with some shade, and there are ALWAYS folks sitting outside, people watching, chatting. This location was renovated in the last few years so it has warm food, mobile pick-up, and a bit of a facelift. Has some tables and chairs inside as well but it's not a huge location.”

“First time visiting Tarocco, definitely not the last! Have very fond memories of this space when it used to be Westside Bakery and Cafe, many years ago. Great location, great space, thrilled that Tarocco is here to stay. 🌞 Took a friend for lunch to celebrate her birthday. She really needed to eat somewhere that is aware and acknowledges food sensitivities and allergies, for her it is gluten and alliums(garlic/onions). I called a few days before and happened to get the owner on the phone, who assured me that they can absolutely feed someone with any food intolerances, safely. Everything the minute we walked in, was wonderful. The space is light, bright, airy, and the food is perfect. The staff is engaging, funny, and present for any questions, and suggestions. Food is presented beautifully, vibrant colors, fresh produce, ample portions, the list goes on and on. Normally not a flavored coffee drink fan, but the Cardamom Rose Latte, sooo good!!! Get the Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookie🍪! My friend ordered the Tarocco Rice Bowl, perfect! Also had the soup of the day and avocado toast, sat outside, no rush, no waiting, attentive and caring staff. Very much looking forward to returning soon! 🥳”

“Love the idea of this place. Many desserts here that you simply cannot get at other places. The person working while we were there was very nice as well! Our pandan cake was delicious and would definitely have again. (It was a bit sweet though for my liking) They also serve some high quality tea here to go with the desserts and I find that wonderful. “This place is great. Just tried it for the first time after watching the eclipse. Their huevos rancheros are up there in the top 3 implementations of the dish that I’ve had. The chicken and waffles were good - you can see in the picture that my dog wanted to share. I think with a little bit of hot sauce it would have been complete. There is a large beautiful outdoor patio there, which is perfect if you have a dog. Highly recommend this place for breakfast.”

“YES! First rate Shawarma in Berkeley. Longing for a place to replace The Halal Guys, on center street, one of my favorite shawarma places despite the fact that it had become more of a fast food joint before it closed, I wandered into epicurious garden as I occasionally do, and saw the sign for Darband. Encouraged by the fact that they were fresh cooking skewers of meat over hot coals, and chopping up fresh vegetables and herbs, I ordered their lamb shawarma wrap, and was blown away. 100% fresh, with a delicious wrap skin, a spicy yogurt sauce, tender and succulent Lamb with just a little bit of char the way I like it, and lettuce and tomato, Garband has a 100% rating in the shawarma game, and I will be coming back for sure. Really well done! It's not common that this neighborhood would have a shawarma spot, I hope the lovers of Middle Eastern food who like to get wraps. And other delicious Middle Eastern food check it out!”

Baker & Commons!” So 5 minutes later we met this neighborhood gem - a vivid yellow little beautiful bakery at the corner of Russell & College. It’s not the everything-perfect type of bakery that wows you with flawlessness, but it’s charming nonetheless exactly because of its laidback attitude and the tolerance of imperfection - just like HOME. You care less, because you can be real. It features home baking goods, in pan, in tray, in down-to-earth paper cups and containers; its latte is in a bowl (kinda cute); it picks seasonal fruits and turns them into golden shiny turnover; it slices tiramisu upon order. Dog friendly. Kid friendly. Book nerd friendly. Life long relationship friendly. If you didn’t fall in love at first glance here, that’s fine, you will gradually sink in, gently.”

“Best chicken birria tacos I've ever had! The consomme is very delicious. We loved the Pollo mole tacos as well. You really can't go wrong with anything from this spot as all the food is flavorful and tasty. They have a good variety of beer choices. Lots of indoor dining with a bar area and limited outdoor dining. Very spacious and open. The bathrooms are well maintained. All the employees were friendly and gave phenomenal service.
