Best french restaurant I have been to in USA. Delicious homey food, nothing fancy but very authentic. 3-course pre fix is a great deal.
Cozy, comfy, hard to find for the first time.
Dark streets in Carmel so locate during daylight. We enjoyed a variety of entrees and appetizers, all delicious.
Kerry took a break and we shared some history after dinner.
Our anniversary at L'Escargot was best dining experience I've had in years. The service was impeccable and the waitstaff we're friendly and very professional. My wife got the sand dabs and I enjoyed my steak frites immensely. Everything was cooked to perfection. The prices are reasonable given the quality and atmosphere. This is a great place for a date or anniversary celebration, but be sure to make reservations.
Everything was fantastic. Service was great and the food was excellent. It is quite expensive... I knew I'd enjoy it less if I had to see the bill, so I just had my wife pay them!
Things I'd recommend : Beef Wellington (on special) , French onion soup, mushroom cap escargot.
Country French eatery, that has the feel and flavors of those small restaurants through out France. Friendly service , diverse menu. French onion a must, any fish dish tasty, beef Wellington, contrary to other reviews needs a little improving- meat just too rare, deserts are all wonderful . So why only 4 stars? Need to improve the interior, with newer chairs and some upgrades. However, 4 star restaurants need not to be perceived in the negative and L'Escargot is no exeption
