“Came here for OC restaurant. for 50 you get 4 course meal with wine pairing. The salmon was bland. The duck was okay. Nothing special. The appetizers probably taste better than entrees. Located in crystal court. Not very crowded place. Food presentation was good. The food may need some modifications.”

“I tried the tagine, which is prity good. It's not truly Mediterranean but it's an interesting fusion, I would have given the place 4 stars if it had more private feel instead of a food court atmosphere. Especially for $$ restaurant.”

“Small random Japanese place. The food is absolutely 5 star. Totally legit. We were the only non-Japanese in the restaurant. Literally every person speaking Japanese. Small and dimly lit inside. Every dish was prepared with precision. We ordered tons of things. Roasted toro was amazing and fatty. Sea bass was soft and perfect temperature. Honestly too many things to list. Minus point for the very high pricing, could easily be a $$$$ instead of $$$. The dishes are incredibly small. For guys I recommend pre-eating a small meal or snack prior to coming here or the bill will get out of hand quickly.”

“Pretty good. I think they over charged me though. I wanna say lunch buffett was $11.99 or so and my invoice said about $14.99... I live in Vegas so I wasn't gonna complain about $3... But I guess this is my chance! ???? It's definitely set in a strange shopping center. Slightly hard to find. Decent food though. Home cooked Indian style.”

“The udon is always freshly made and all dishes I tried are all delicious. No complaint.”

“Generally delicious and consistent, but once in a long while, you'll get fish that has a fishy taste or rice that isn't fresh & warm. They'll make everything to-go Except the raw fish bowls?! Count/State health regulations, so you order in, go to the Udon shop next door to pick up a to-go foam box, and drop your bowl into the box. Silly. Not the best donburi can taste, but better than average. Salmon bowl is a good start if you're into fresh fish, and Don Don Tei is one of the better choices to sample first (best being Gyutan imo).”

“Have come here with my family twice, once to celebrate my birthday and then on another occassion. The food was delicious, big tender steaks, and the sides were also amazing. The service was fantastic and the restaurant has a nice intimate feel to it. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Would love to come again soon.”

“Its located inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace. There's actually a large Japanese food court in the back of the grocery store. Very authentic Japanese food vendors. This place specializes in dim sum, bao buns, and some Chinese food. The shu-mai pork dim sum is good and made from scratch when you order it. The Xiao Long Bao are average, not enough broth inside. The BBQ pork Bao Buns are good. Excellent Orange chicken, ask for extra garlic. The Chow Mein is ok but somewhat flavorless. It needs a hit of soy sauce, and the chicken is a bit dry. You can choose the thin or thick egg noodle for the Chow Mein. I prefer the thin noodle. Egg drop soup is nice. Minus a star because cash only.”

“Wonderful rich broth and the pork is so tender. Been here several times and so far the quality is consistently good. Parking and finding a table can take a while at lunch time. This is in a food court so there are other options available if you with a group.”

“This is my go to Japanese market. Its hard to park here if you arrive after 11am any day of the week. There is an excellent food court that is always full. The only take cash. The shopping market will not dispense cash back. This is one of my favorite places.”

“After years of other stores that failed in the same spot, Gyutan has the taste and quality down prefect! Consistently delicious, the best in this food court, and always fills you up. Prices creeping up, so $13-18~ per person nowadays for the basic gyutan meals. But well worth the price when you do want a tasty dinner.”

“Excellent steaks and service. Nice atmosphere but the lighting is a little on the dark side. This is a high end restaurant. Great for special occasions. Valet parking. Pricey but highly recommended!”

“Great place for fresh quick food. Limited menu with stellar quality makes for an easy choice. Ability to combine few core fish with multiple sauces and sides means each meal can be slightly different while still sticking to the same concept. Clean place with fast moving lines and friendly service. Will definitely visit again when I am in the area. Parking can be limited during peak hours”

“TL;DR (too long; didn't read) version: Solid Tonkotsu Ramen, excellent prices and delicious side bowls of fried chicken or chashu pork. If you like Tonkotsu ramen and you like a good noodle that stands up to the broth, make sure to visit Mendoki. Its a small shop that is reminiscent of the ramen joints I've eaten at in Japan, capturing the nostalgia. The photo attached to this review is of their Tonkotsu ramen with extra menma and extra noodles. They don't have a large size so I opted for extra noodles right off the bat. You can always order kae-dama which is something like, $1? I've also had the Tsukemen here which is absolutely incredible. Its rich, robust, super flavorful and the noodles really stand up to the broth very well. I really enjoy Mendoki because the noodles have a nice al-dente chew to them that a lot of other ramen restaurants don't have. I'm not sure if the noodles are made in-house but other ramen restaurants should look to Mendoki to up their ramen game. In a way, its almost like rice is to sushi. That delicate relationship between the two can make or break the whole thing. Still reading? Hungry for ramen? Stop reading. Drive to Mendoki. Enjoy.”

“This spot is very traditional and felt like taking a vacation to Japan. Hiro was a great tour guide. I got to learn about traditional Japanese etiquette, had the freshest fish in town. Very tasty. Thank you for being so generous.”
