“Looking at Jane D's review below, I have to agree on some points but I give it at least one more star than her. I have tried the Thai place on Cortez and Thai Spice and like the food here at Thai Spice way more than the other. I didn't find the lunch price that unreasonable, given the quality of the food. The Pad Thai was perfect, generous, exactly the right level of spicy (hot for me) and accompanied by a consistently delicious soup and piping hot egg roll. The owner/chef is not only to be complimented for his cooking prowess but for his artistic interpretation as well. The presentation was as good as any fancy, "five star" place I have ever been to at several times the price. I'm gonna have to conclude that those who reviewed this negatively must have had a different owner or chef and encourage you to try this one without apprehension. I am certain you will enjoy it as much as I do, which I now include on my weekly restaurant rotation. My "$" review below is for LUNCH prices. Dinner gets "$$" but is still reasonable. “Traveling to the Bradenton Area four times a year we usually eat there approximately 8 times a year. We usually get fried fish shrimp red beans and rice and fries the servings are quite large. And the food is always prepared to a high standard. It is usually the first place we hit when we come to town. They have quite an extensive menu, I have not head there other items.”

“Four of us went to try the new seafood restaurant, Lazy Lobster Shanty--- so glad we did! Great food and excellent service. All of us loved our meals. I got the Lobster Mac and Cheese (creamy, cheesy, generous portion of lobster and a toasted crumb topping) and Lobster Bisque (a must!) Spouse had the special: Baked Cob with Crab, baked potato & broccoli. Said it was very good. Our friends loved their Captain's plate (shrimp, lobster, scallops) and Baked Haddock. If you go, save room for pie! We shared a piece of Maine Blueberry Crumb cheesecake- wow, it was great! We would all recommend Heather, our server, who was friendly and helpful discussing menu choices.”

The only complaint that I had (but it won't affect my review) is that the tables were so close together the staff and other patrons kept bumping into my chair as they walked by. Be sure after your meal that you go upstairs to the dessert room, it is a whole different experience but every bit as worthy of a 5-star review in its own right.”

“Drove to there from Siesta and I have to tell you it was worth it. It’s no longer Lakay, it’s Sunshine Caribbean. I ordered fish and griyo plate, fish took a little longer but I was warned as I was making the order. Everything was very Haitian, as in delicious. To top everything off, the customer service was superb, you know how island business has a bad rep for lousy customer service. The food was delicious and great customer service. Win win!!”
