We all ended up loving what we ordered, it was probably the best thing we had since moving to the Sarasota area in the last year. The waitress was really friendly, and seemingly perfected the art of knowing when she was needed. And they went out of their way to make my brothers birthday special, which he won’t forget! “Disappointing. The lasagna noodle was so thick, and also greasy as was the sauce. The place needs to be more open to outside. This used to Mediterranean and called Chutneys. Same owners, same decor basically. I wonder why they changed to Italian. Much better before. Won't return now. Maybe 2 and 1/2 stars better rating sorry to say.”

She has a really hard time finding gluten free restaurants. The server was very nice and checked on everything to make sure our friend would be okay. The food was fabulous! “This place is pretty good! Food tastes like nonna made it! The restaurant reminds me of a basement of a house in Philly or NYC (in a good way). Only complaint is that some dishes needed a little less of things and the others needed a little more. Little less lemon, and a little more salt or pepper, but it's there on the table for you to add. You can always add more but never take away. That's how I cook and appreciate Chef Marcello's approach. He puts his heart into the food and the food keeps with tradition with subtle spins. The fresh pasta is the best. Probably the best Italian restaurant in Sarasota.”

“Yesterday was my first time trying this place, I absolutely loved it! Everything was super fresh from the market. Wait time was short considering how busy they were. Prices were extremely reasonable for what we ordered. My son had the king salmon dinner that was cooked to perfection, my fiancee had the 1 1/2 lbs of crab legs, which were incredible. I had the gumbo to start, highly recommend getting it. I also had the dinner special called The Hemingway which was awesome as well. Our server Andrea was very busy but took exceptional care of us. I can see why they have been in business for 100 years. I will definitely make the commute to go back soon!”

“Such a wonderful experience! The empanadas were incredibly delicious, and there were so many options! The array of fresh and frozen pastas was incredible as well. We are staying in a hotel not far and dont have a kitchen but we wanted more to take with us - the woman working was so kind and boiled some of the pasta for us to be able to take for later. She went out of her way and it was so sweet. Would recommend this place to ANYONE in the area weather they're passing through or live locally!!”

“Sonny's BBQ was highly recommended to us and it was a favorite dinner spot from our first smell of the BBQ mastery happening as we pulled into the lot. We arrived about 10 minutes before they closed, and although they were out of many items they pulled together alternatives that worked for our very hungry party and made sure that we all were very happy. Quality was incredible. Food was superb. Waitstaff were friendly, helpful and some of the best customer service people we encountered in the entire area. Bravo Sonny's. We ate there twice in a week and will eat there again anytime we are nearby.”
