“Mel’s California Hoagies are phenomenal!!! It was so good, we came back the next day. We had the steak & cheese, The Margaret, and George hoagies. We love them all. We washed it down with their amazing red kool-aid, blue raspberry and apple slushy. We know who got us on our sandwich cravings. We will definitely be back for more!”

“Just found out about this place. Thanks to a good friend of mine. Well I got the jumbo shrimp with fries and coleslaw and the husband got 10 chicken wings with fries. Everything is cooked once you order so there's no sitting around getting old food. Thank God for that. The food is seasoned very well and very tasty. One thing I did not get was a side order of cocktail sauce or something else to go on my shrimp. The coleslaw needs help but it will do for those of you who like yours a specific way. I'm particular about coleslaw. Service is fantastic. You get it with a smile and definitely no attitude. If you haven't tried this soul-ful place, make sure you give it a try!”

“I spent $30 and I asked for a whole catfish it was the smallest catfish in the world and a half a dozen of shrimps they were fine but the fish and the chicken was cooked I mean the fish and the shrimps was cooked in the same batter so no I would not be going back to Lawrence fishery spending $30 and I was still hungry.”

“I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The Southern Comfort plate is everything I was hoping for: delicious and flavorful greens, mac & cheese that’s not dry like some places, and the jerk chicken that has just the right amount of spice! The portions are huge so you’re getting a lot for your money. I ended up eating my leftovers the next day, so you’re kinda getting 2 meals for the price of 1. I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. What a great addition to the south suburban eatery options.”

“We went on a Tuesday evening. Karyn calabrese was there and made a point of coming over to say hello. You order at the counter (with raw items in the cooler) and they bring the food to you. There were not a lot of drink options. We ordered the fried chuk sandwich with potatoes and coleslaw and the Southern comfort meal with beef. The southern comfort came out first and there was a good ten minutes between that arriving and the chik sandwich coming. That being said, the food was delicious. There are samples of the raw items available as well.”

“First time here, finally. Been trying to get into the other location for a few years to see what the hype was about. The FOOD WAS GREAT!!! Everyone at the table was well pleased with their selection. The 4 stars is because the service wasn't the best that it could be, and the glasses and silverware were dirty. My glass literally had lip-print glitter lip gloss on it. But the food was so good, I would definitely visit again!! Update: I did visit again, and it was just as GREAT as it was the first time, so I took pics!!! If you visit, try the lobster omelet (pics posted), and please encourage them to add it to the menu permanently!”

I started off with a white sangria omg 💕 Also my husband HAD a long Island no gin SUPER GOOD APPETIZER WE HAD THE HENNESSEY WINGS AT 50. A PIECE SUPER GOOD DINNER FOR ME SURF ANF TURF LAMB AND LOBTER SIDES MAC AND CHEESE AND LOADED MASH. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. HUSBAND HAD CATFISH IT WAS SEASONED GOOD DIDN'T NEED HOT SAUCE, COULD HAVE BEEN FRIED HARDER BUT wE wAS FULL ANY WAY AND WILL be just as good n airfryer later. He also haD red beans and rice and he raved over them didn't share lol was good to say the least he ate them first. He also had yams so good. I finished with a second drink because I was drink watching the. I had a blue margarita also good but not better then that white sangria.... Bartender was also very nice didn't catch her name but she hooked them drinks up. We will be returning I neverrrrr write reviews but since the owner was so welcoming I had too”

All of the staff made our visit great, from holding the door open to checking on our table. The food was chefs kiss! “This is a convenient place to eat for me since it's across the street from my job. The shrimp fried rice was good , unfortunately, I also ordered the orange chicken, which was nasty. I will stick to the shrimp fried rice . The cashier, as I was ordering, he answered the phone while I was speaking to him without saying 1 second, please, and then acted as though he could not hear me when I placed my order. He was no help when it came to vegetarian dishes.”
