“New owners just opened it back up. Nice Irish pub atmosphere. We are longtime patrons, about once a month. The 4th street cruise was on, we sat outside to watch. Ema was our waitress and did an awesome job. The fish platter and chicken tenders were good. Drinks were good except for bloody Mary's were mediocre and over priced. It's always been a good place to meet friends, check it out.”

“Man we need more barbecue joints like this. I met the owner and tasted his ribs tips which are hard to find anywhere in Waterloo, Iowa. I live in local Hudson, Iowa and I will be back here any day over going to Famous Dave’s…. 1st Base BBQ is the real deal and flavor, finally a real barbecue joint. To the owner I recommend you add catfish to your menu, then you will have Waterloo on lockdown. So stop by, I recommend this place for good eats.”

“I've been in a few times and haven't been disappointed yet. I tried the turkey & bacon club on my first visit and it was great - I added avocado to mine, but I'm sure it would be great without it as well. The poblano potato salad I got the next time was AMAZING!!! I could eat that by itself for a meal! It has great flavor and isn't something you can get anywhere else in town. The grilled cheese will be my next choice when I stop in, I saw others order it and it looked so gooey and delicious! Definitely a great little spot in town with cozy decor/atmosphere. I love that they also have products from other local businesses...a great addition to the Cedar Valley for sure.”

“I ate there around 5pm on a Wednesday. There were a few other guests. I was seated immediately and my server was at the table within a minute. I ordered the sirloin rare.
