“Super good bakery items. The cinnamon donut (which is more the consistency of a coffee cake) is fabulous, as is the ginger cream pie. I’m confident that other things would be just as delicious. The coffee, on the other hand, was less impressive. The espresso isn’t bad, but there’s not much complexity to it, truth be told. Or, maybe it just seems weak? (I’m an experienced coffee connoisseur but horrible at describing tastes.) The pour over I selected (a Nicaraguan) was likewise OK – not spectacular. But the real issue with the coffee was the unbelievable amount of time that it took. Yes, when I went it was crowded... like, crazy busy. But still, I’m not exaggerating when I say the two drinks took about 10-15 minutes (felt like 15+), which is just too dang long to be waiting for a cup of coffee. Anyway, I’d be happy to give them another chance because the baked goods are so yummy, and hopefully the extremely slow drinks were an anomaly.”

“To be honest, I was a bit worried what I'd find inside when we pulled up to this place. It's very bland outside, with its gravel parking lot and beige paint... I almost missed its sign and it's painted in yellow, nearly blending in with the wall behind. It made me wonder if we even had the right place. However, when we stepped inside, there was a beautiful old stairway leading you up to a bright, sunlit loft-styled area, filled with an eclectic array tables and chairs and nicely, yet minimally, decorated. The coffee was wonderful and rich. Perfect for a cold day. I didn't try any of the food, but what I saw served, looked fresh and very appealing! There was an open deck for warm weather gatherings and it appeared that Decade didn't just sell coffees and teas, but adult beverages as well. Might be a nice neighborhood place to visit in the evening.”

The advantage to this location is the PlayPlace, although we have found it to be somewhat crowded during the weekday mornings and especially on the weekends. “Very nice place! I went to see one of my favorite local bands play there, Sissy & Earl. They have a nice intimate set up for the musicians. Lots of great beer on tap, a nice wine selection and of course coffee . Comfy couches to sit on along the standard tables. There was even a little room off to the side of the stage area where a couple were able to dance :) Really worth a visit if you are in the area.”

“This location features a number of pleasant features such as; 2 self ordering stations, 2 traditional ordering stations, spacious lobby and plenty of seating. The location is close to K-10 and 59 highway, so it is a convenient choice for any direction you are driving. I ordered a breakfast meal and my order was delivered within 7 minutes or placing my order at the self service station. My order was correct, hot and tasted as I expected. There were not many people inside or going through the drive-thru. The only complaints that I have is that they may want to consider putting sanitary wipes at the self ordering stations as well as expanding their entrance and exit.”

“Absolutely fabulous dining experience! We were in Lawrence for some business and decided to eat at a local restaurant. My wife read some reviews about The Roost, and we decided to give it a try. The environment was eclectic, but not pretentious. The food was prepared at an extremely elevated level. The ordinary became extraordinary. We ordered a lot of different things so that we could try as much as we could and take the rest home for leftovers. We were happy we made that decision. Everything was hot, and tasted fresh, made-to-order. Hats off to the roost.”
