“WOW! SO GLAD WE STOPPED IN HERE! If you like craft beer, unique pizzas, and friendly people, then you must stop by and try this brew pub. The outside of the restaurant is rather unassuming. But, once you walk in, you notice the beams, touches of modern wood work, and the friendly bar keeps and immediately feel welcomed. We initially went in to try a flight of beer and kill some time. We ordered the English Style Bitter Ale, Trestle IPA, Watermelon Sour, and Blueberry Delight Milkshake IPA. We both really enjoyed the Trestle and the Blueberry IPA tremendously. The sour was good but keep in mind sour beers are an acquired taste. For a sour, it was tastefully crafted. The English Bitter IPA didn't knock our socks off or anything but it wasn't undrinkable either. As we reviewed the eclectic pizzas on their menu, we figured that we only live once so why not try something unusual. We were pleased that you can order a whole pizza and do half one way and half another. We tried the "Smoked Pulled Pork, Gouda, Mac & Cheese, Jalapeno Cornbread" on one side and the "Maine Blueberries, Ricotta, Roasted Shallot, Lemon Zest" on the other half. Both pizza halves far exceeded what we expected! The pulled pork...pizza was packed with numerous complementary flavors and textures. The Blueberry pizza was rich and creamy with a smooth savory base from the shallots highlighted with subtle but bright pops of lemon zest to reduce the heaviness. The crust was airy and crispy on the edges without being too chewy. Being brave and trying these pizzas was fantastically rewarding! It may sound cliche, but we liked the blueberry pizza paired with the Blueberry Delight IPA. The pulled pork Gouda pizza paired decently with the Trestle IPA as well.”

“Calling first we had to honor to speak with Tony. His personality alone made you feel welcome. Upon arrival I think we were shocked at the multi level open air restaurant. The ambiance was refreshing and the view from the upper deck was stunning. Fortunately, we sat near a gentleman who inspired our dinner selection as he eats there all the time. The food was cooked to perfection, Dessert was a fried Oreo. Can you stand it ..whoever thought it would be so heavenly. Everyone was attentive and efficient in all aspects of our dining experience. Just a perfect evening and we will be going back.”

“Good prices for excellent lobster. The counter staff was great at picking lobsters the size we were looking for. They were prepared perfectly. As a first time lobster water, I found getting to everything surprisingly easy. Excellent corn, slaw, and chips. “Excellent food with friendly and fast service. Stopped by to grab lunch and had the lobster roll and whole belly clam plate. Lobster was delicious and buttery with great flavor and plenty of meat. The clams were tender and lightly fried with great flavor as well. Plenty of food and fair prices. Best to park down the road and well worth the short walk for food. A must visit lunch spot.”

This restaurant has good views of the ocean. And Jackie has outside seating. Jackie's is located in Perkins Cove and there's a lot of little shops around there. You might have to pay for parking between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. if you can't find any free parking place.”

“Here is a chef that understands the artistry of cooking but not the science. My palate is not so discerning as to identify the subtleties of bay leaf instead of parsley when added to the dish but lemon zest is readily identifiable and often over powering. It has been my experience that the best chefs learn to complement or enhance the flavor of their dishes using spices. I like bold choices but at some point the chef has to know what the spices add or change in the dish and when to add them. That is the science of cooking before you add heat to the formula/recipe. There were 8 of us at the table so I say we had a fair sampling of the chefs skills and preferences. I was disappointed in the food to say the least. On a good note the staff was friendly, patient and extremely polite. We were seated exactly at the time we reserved. The atmosphere was clean, quiet and seductively charming. The cost of the evening was not unexpected. We were there during the height of the season so crowds were our constant companions. We made reservations 3 months in advance. The place gets a measured recommendation for everything but the primary reason we go to any restaurant.”

“After web-sifting through the most popular restaurants, we decided to drive into downtown and make an in-person assessment of the eateries before choosing where to dine. The Crooked Pine never came up on any of the major review lists but as we walked the streets, we decided to give the ‘underdog’ a try based on its attractive exterior and lack of wait. Everything about our experience could be rated a 10/10. The cocktails were excellent, the shrimp appetizer featured some of the largest yet perfectly cooked shrimp we’ve ever encountered. Scallops were cooked to PERFECTION. Service was fantastic, dessert was amazing. We truly can’t wait to come back to this place! I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fine dining experience in a casual atmosphere with reasonable pricing. This place is the best of both worlds!”
