“5/12/19 Update: If I could add another star or two, I would. I visited this location for Mother's Day and my mom had a medical issue during our visit (she's fine now). The staff's attentive response and understanding was incredible. They were completely understanding in regards to the situation and in no way acted 'put out' by the inconvenience of tying up the table or the paramedics arriving. I forgot to pay when leaving to follow the ambulance, but when I called the next day to pay, I was told the bill was taken care of and to enjoy the rest of mother's day. All the staff that night deserve praise and I greatly appreciate everything they did. Jaku is a great restaurant for special occasions. Price wise, it's reasonable for the quality and ambiance, but a bit more than I'd pay for a "lunch every day" meal. Don't get me wrong, the food is delicious and worth the cost. Their hot meals are great and the sushi is high quality. They have a wide, creative array of sushi that make return trips a must.”

“Modern interior look with decent spacing between tables. There was just two other small groups of people in the place so I do not know loud the space would be if filled with people. The menu was well thought out and had a good variety of choices. The meals were average priced compared to other like establishments. The food was prepared in 15 minutes and was very good.”

“Every time I am in Grand Rapids, my sister takes me to Brandywine for dinner. Since I live on the east coast, I opt for the wet burrito (beef) because they are poorly made in my state. They are excellent here. This is a fairly small restaurant, but the staff is friendly and accommodating.”

“Amazing pizza served here!! Ordered a pizza with everything, and was it fantastic. Only had one incident where they accidentally put one of my pizzas through the oven twice (which caused it to burn and crisp slightly), but were more than happy to make another pizza. Very satisfactory!”

“Just left a great family occasion that took place at The Candied Yam. First of all, I must commend the staff. They were friendly and very attentive to every request and need. The food was "off the chain" good. I had collard greens, pork chops, and mac &cheese. Everything was freshly made, well seasoned, and served hot. I definitely will be back.”

“This is my favorite restaurant--not just in the Grand Rapids area, but in all of Michigan. They serve very tasty, authentic Southern Indian cuisine here. You'll have to drive to Devon in Chicago to find anything as delicious. I can recommend both the buffet and menu. Tons of vegan/vegetarian options (my preference) but also meat dishes available. The service is gracious and quick. They have been very accommodating with my young son. It may look like a typical diner on the outside, but trust me that the flavors inside are one of a kind. Highly recommend!”

“We all know that Real Food Cafe is a great breakfast place, and therefore we going knowing that there will be a wait. For an after-church time, we surprisingly didn't wait more than 20minutes for a table (win!). Our waitress was friendly and my coffee was great (not the cheap diner stuff, but real coffee!). We decided to split a sweet and a savory dish because it was impossible to tell, in the moment, what we were craving. Let me tell you, the pancakes were MASSIVE! Think the size of a medium/personal pizza, stack of 3 or 4. GINORMOUS! We got the Cinnamon Roll Pancake and the Veggie Hash Skillet. Pancakes were soft and had just the right amount of cinnamon and icing (I did not need to add syrup, ate them "as is", my friend was able to add syrup). The veggie hash with whole wheat toast was perfect amount of savory (so many veggies and cheese!!!) Love this place!”
