Tried for the first time tonight. Good burgers, but way too expensive think they will have a hard time competing with five guys. Five guys is better but not by too much. But way cheaper..overall 3 stars, five guys I'd give a 4 because of the prices and the burgers are better.

Went to Shake Shack for the opening and again recently. I only have had the Shackburger single, the fries, and a chocolate shake both times(what can I say, I'm loyal to the tried and true), but they have been consistently delicious both times. The burgers are soft and melt in you mouth, the fries perfectly salty and crisp, and the shake, which I believe are all frozen custard based was rich and actually chocolatey as a good shake should be.
The only reason it's getting four stars is because this place can get busy and is usually really loud, at least indoors. Go for the patio if you're sticking around! The line is quick but if you're just picking up to go then you'll be waiting around twiddling your thumbs in the corner for awhile(to remedy this order through mobile and give them at least 30 minutes, then you can just waltz in and grab your order).
If you're there to sit and chill a bit then it's not bad at all. They serve all customers, to go or staying, with little mobiles that will remotely buzz when your order is ready. Pretty sweet, and honestly worth the wait.

The flavor of the meat itself was quite good and unlike almost any other, even from places that specialize in hamburgers. I got a double this time because the last few times I went I was disappointed. The person taking my order suggested a double and she was right. It's much better than a single which is my standard. The burger is very rich, a little heavy really. The Shack sauce is bland and oily. They serve the burger in a way that makes it a mess - the bun is small and not cut completely through, the meat and condiments are therefore wedged into one side and the whole thing is then placed into a half sized burger bag that is supposed to serve as a wrap but only covers one side. It's a mess and everyone there was getting it all over their hands. It's just pretentious nonsense. They also put lettuce and tomato on their standard burger, but the amount is paltry - about half of what would be standard in a diner, less even than the big three national burger chains. The french fries were crinkle cut and done very well. I like crinkle cut fries so that was good. The price was high. $12 for a double cheeseburger and fries. The flavor of the meat itself was quite good, but if you don't get a double you're going to miss it because it's subtle. I don't think it's bad, but I'm really missing the reason for all of the hype. I guess I didn't have a milk shake. Perhaps people like it because what they really want is dessert for lunch but they aren't willing to admit it, so they talk about the burger instead? I must admit, the pretentiously inconvenient lopsided presentation of the hamburger really turned me off. I immediately disassembled mine in order to make it less of a mess, but the patties were stuck together in a tilted mess, and that made it impossible to get it straight, so I gave up. Poor value, poor presentation, excessively heavy and oily. I know people like greasy burgers and abundance, but this was too much for me, and the high price put the finishing touch on my opinion of Shake Shack - overrated. Not bad, but not living up to the hype.

My family and I were in Ann Arbor for the art fair and stopped here for lunch. We had no idea it had just opened a few days earlier! The staff was well trained and knew what they were doing. The restaurant was very clean and had a great atmosphere. I had heard of Shake Shack before and the burger lived up to its hype. It was very flavorful without being too greasy. The shake was tasty and the cheese fries were quite good. It didn't break the bank, either! We'll definitely be back next time we're here.

Today I visited Shake shack on its grand opening. The new Ann Arbor store is 3rd one in Michigan. They have everything offered at the other locations — classic burgers, hot dogs, crinkle cut fries, shakes and fresh-made frozen custard. The space is lovely with high ceilings with exposed metal beams. Lots of glass windows let in light. And all of the furniture is very environmentally friendly... I understand the tables are from reclaimed bowling alley lanes (I captured that in my pics) The burgers are juicy and seasoned well. We ordered a couple of the double smoke shacks and a couple orders of crinkle-cut fries. Adding in a shake and a large soda got us to 35 bucks with tax. So yeah it’s a bit pricey. The quality is great though. I only wish the crinkle cut fries were hotter in temperature. I think they were making huge batches of fries and keeping them warm to handle this evening’s huge crowds, so I will definitely be back to give them another try. I will also order booze next time. Check it out. It’s worth the trip. Feel free to like if you found this helpful.
