Austins Steaks and Saloon

I loved my mussel and shrimp bake! Mom enjoyed fish and chips. My dad got a steak but he did not feel well the next day and was worried maybe it was that... But nobody else felt ill, we're not certain what caused that for him, so I wouldn't discredit this establishment based on that. They were very friendly. We loved the chips and dips appetizer, and they gave me a free Bailey's cheesecake for my birthday, it was very decadent! I would come back again.

Very nice staff, but the food rated from mediocre to not great. There are peanuts in the shell for the taking, but we had to get our own. No one offered. As to our food, our table had scallops which were served on an escargot plate and served on top of mashed potatoes. The sauce was not very good.
The two sandwiches, at our table were on the smaller side. (See photos).The fries served with them were tasty.
The meatloaf, was a very generous serving, but it had almost a musty taste and the person who ordered that couldn't eat it. Two people had the liver
and onions. Again, it was a very generous serving, but it was inedible. It really was like trying to chew on shoe leather.
The host was very friendly and accommodating.
Our server was very pleasant, also. However, she kept trying to give the checks before people were finished. One party asked her if she was in a hurry for us to leave. He hadn't even gotten to the second half of his small sandwich.
I really wanted to give this restaurant 5 stars based on the knowledge of the first Austin's in Omaha. This isn't even close.

The place is nice but small, if they can expand they need to without a doubt. The wait wasn't bad but they have go to the bar for your wait. The thing is when the bar fills up then where do you wait? I saw some just trying to hover around the bar area but then they're in the way of traffic flow for the employees. It should be better in the spring cause they should have outdoor seating. The service was great we arrived right at prime dinner service. They didn't miss a beat, even another server refilled my drink while on his way to another table. The food was good. Some will say it didn't have enough salt on it, here's what I say to that. Not everyone can have a ton of salt on their food so either tell them to salt it when cooking it or add it from the table. Will I return sure, given the menu options can't wait too.
