“I chose this restaurant because of a picture of the setting. A bright and beautiful solarium on a beautiful June day was all we hoped it would be! The buffet selections were delicious and varied. Our server was a super nice guy and very efficient and thorough. We enjoyed every part of our experience! Great food and service. Popped in early at 7:30am for breakfast. Ordered off the menu, buffet opens at 8am. Definitely the place to take Mom, just has that vibe.”

“Service is brilliant, it’s run like a tight ship. Seamless, smooth, no hiccups. All serving staff working in sync, probably the best I’ve had in any establishment. Hats off to the lady who was overseeing her whole team. Starters crab cake (5/5), every aspect of this dish is perfect. Often restaurants put a lot of potatoes in crab cakes to substitute the crab meat. It was pure crab meat here. Main course rack of lamb, this is where they lost a point. For me when I get to a restaurant the food should be piping hot, my lamb was warm. The side dishes came out so hot, I couldn’t even hold the potato gratin dish. We were in a large group and I understand it’s virtually impossible to create everyone dish at the same time. However the lamb rack from the kitchen grill to table shouldn’t have taken so long for it to lose so much heat. Under normal circumstances it would have gone back, as we under time constraints it wasn’t an option.”

“Recently went to Charleston for my birthday celebration, and Toast was a five minute walk from the hotel we stayed in. We ended up visiting Toast twice in three days! We were seated quickly and the food was wonderful. What made the experience even better was that we were served by Miguel. He was a delight! Very friendly, energetic, knowledgeable and quick to offer suggestions for things to do and places to eat during our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I’ll definitely be returning.”

“The first time we dined here, it was around 5pm on a Sunday. We thoroughly enjoyed the venue - the open-air ruin out back was delightful. The food was delicious and fairly-priced. The drinks were comparable to most downtown spots, if just a tad less expensive. It wasn't too busy, and a good, casual experience overall. The second time we visited, it was 11pm on a Saturday night, and it felt like a totally different restaurant/bar. This place explodes with night life, and is apparently a hot spot for college students. The crowds were formidable and smelled like all varieties of artificial pheromones. Loud live music, dancing, endless revelry. Still, it was a good time - just radically different. Long story short: there's something for everyone here - choose your visiting time appropriately.”

“After we docked Dragon's Lair this was our first dinner in Charleston. We chose the closest place to the Marina basically. It was in a residential neighborhood and was a fun walk from the marina. The place was small but had a table for us. It started our Charleston adventure well. I had a 60 bull cafe salad to be healthy and a flounder taco. Both were amazing. The salad had candy nuts and was just a really tasty salad. But the flounder taco was just out of this world amazing. Told myself to come back for breakfast but our short time in Charleston ate everywhere we could and forgot to go back...”

I had the Crab Cakes over creamed corn with asparagus and it was delicious! Also, enjoyed the pimento cheese fritters and fried green tomatoes. All was fresh and flavorful. “The Barbadoes Room Restaurant at the Mills House in Charleston is a great place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, or drinks at the bar. This restaurant is very Charleston and I have had an excellent experience every time I have been here. I like the option of being able to eat inside the restaurant or outside in the courtyard on a nice day. The food is wonderful and each item on the menu is a good choice so you cannot go wrong. The staff here is very efficient and friendly and is quick to make sure that you have everything you need. This is also a great event space for private events as I have attended many here and it is big enough with space for several hundred people. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston.”
