“You only visit this place once as a stranger; after that you are part of the family. I stayed only two days in Charleston, but Bertha's food was so good that I had to go back the second day. The staff recognized me and greeted my family with wonderful southern charm. Do not leave without trying the yams, mac and cheese, and cornbread. Everything on the menu is delicious, so you just can't go wrong. Try it on vacation, and you just might find yourself driving back to Charleston for another taste of Bertha's.”

“Overall, this restaurant is okay. Not terrible but also not that good either. I went during lunch time, so maybe things are different at night. 1. Had a good selection of spirits and a great outdoor seating area. - I would hang out here at night or on the weekends 2. Food was a C+ at best. Not too many flavors. I had the burrito bowl which seemed like a lot of food until you stick your fork in and get large chunks of lettuce. You know what I mean, those super thick, white parts of the lettuce that no one like to eat. 3. Bartender was okay too. Got our drink orders, took our food order, brought the food, gave us the check. Short and sweet. Not a bad thing, but you sometimes you like to feel welcomed, so maybe it was an off day. All in all. I would go back for drinks. Probably no food unless I'm super hungry. There's a pizza hut next door though ;-)”

“Found this place from a google search. I read up on it prior to commuting. As far as dive bars go, if that's your thing, this place may be for you. Dimly lit, small bar, a few pool tables, and an older crowd when I showed up. Bartender was great. However the menu choice is what turned me off. Not much of a selection to choose from. That would be fine, however the cheeseburger was bare, and if you wanted any toppings at all, it's $1.00 for each. The reviews recommend the prime rib dip but a red flag went up when I noticed that dip happens to be the most expensive thing on the menu. All in all, as far as drinks at a small place. Not bad. Just don't expect much for food.”
