This was one of our favorite restaurant/bars to go in Deadwood. It had a more updated, classy feel than the Gem Saloon or other bars on main street. We got a seat next to the window and had drinks, appetizers (half off at happy hour), and dessert. The drinks and food were different from the Google reviews from a year ago so keep that in mind.
Pictures don’t even do the food any justice. It was INCREDIBLE. You could tell everything was made in house, down the the French fries. I got the chicken tenders, and they were perfectly hand breaded. They were nice and crispy. My husband got the 1/3 lb burger and it was delicious as well. We’ve visited 6 different states this week, and this was by far the best food we’ve eaten the entire trip. Our server Dylan was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. He read us the days specials, and even helped me pick out a drink (I went with a margarita). We don’t typically get dessert, but since the other food was so good we decided to try todays special and we’re glad we did. Definitely check this place out when you’re in Deadwood. Super underrated spot.
First of all, the window views looking into Main Street are so fun! Second, I’m not sure why this place has so many bad reviews. We thought it was amazing! My husband has the French dip, it wasn’t dry or over cooked by any means. He really enjoyed it. I had the special of the day which was a fire roasted chicken Philly, it was so good!! Our waitress was friendly, the decors is charming. I’d definitely eat here again!
Located on the third floor of the Midnight Star Casino. Since we’d been met with some issues with a couple of places on our trip, I checked the website before venturing in. The menu on the website looked good and we were looking forward to it.
When we arrived, there weren’t too many other diners. We took a seat at the bar and were taken care of by a fantastic bartender. He was funny, quick…he knows who he is. He even made me my very first Mai Tai. SO good.
Back to the food. We were given a single page menu with maybe 10 choices. It was a very shortened version of the menu on the web. Taking it in stride, we ordered.
We arrived just in time. We arrived around 5:30 and proceeded to see the staff turn away a number of people as the kitchen was closed at 6. This wasn’t indicated anywhere on the website. Their official page on Facebook hasn’t been updated since 2017. However, I have since discovered that the Midnight Star Facebook page IS updated regularly, and the restaurants are included there.
In the end, the burgers were great, and the bartender was awesome and entertaining. It was disappointing to see so many people turned away. We were told that this wasn’t due to staffing issues, but due to newer management.
I would visit again.
This is a great place! They also do deadwood bus tour's which I would recommend. They tell you of the history of deadwood and of wild bill, clamity jane, buffalo bill and others. They also take you to see his grave and tell you about all the fun things that you can see and do that are free along deadwood.
