U.S.A Donuts

“Delicious! I came around 11:30am on a Sunday… I know, worst time to come if I have a certain preference in my donut shop products. Luckily, I got the last chocolate cake donut, as well as a bacon egg and cheese croissant. The casing still had various twists, some fried donuts, about 5-6 of 3 filled-type donuts (lemon, raspberry, Bavarian), lots of glazed donuts, a good pile of large glazed donut holes (the other reviewer was right on size), large cinnamon rolls, and LOTS of kolaches. My BEC was not on the rack in front but in the back, so that tells me not to write it off on first glance. The mother/child duo in front of me was able to get frosting on one of their glazed donuts, although no frosted donuts were out, the shopkeeper even asking what color frosting they’d like. That showed me they are amenable to even small requests like these! I got home and reheated my sandwich (as we all do, microwave style), and boy! The croissant was soft, buttery and decadent. The size was great and price was fair ($3.29+tax at time of review). The cake donut ($0.79+tax) was also soft and had a balanced amount of glaze. I’m usually more a fan of plain cake with a chocolate icing, but this was still good without being too rich or dried out. Thank goodness the mom didn’t get the kid this donut since he apparently “wouldn’t eat it.” 😆 Long story short, the food was great and I would definitely make the drive down to the SE side again… earlier this time! Excuse the half eaten food pics, I didn’t think to take any until I realized how good they tasted. 🥺”

Tia’s Taco Hut

Address: 1203 N St Mary's St, San Antonio, TX 78215, USA

Restaurant

“7-2-2The food was amazing but the price was a bit steep for quantity. The bbq plate was 9.99 but I added the eggs for extra. The fajita portion was also small but tasted really good. The tortilla soup had all the right flavors. The flour tortillas was fresh, and super soft. The waitress did not come back for refills of drinks but came after we all finished to give us the check. Update: used drive thru 7-8-22 and the lady was rude very slow had us waiting at the window after paying about 5 minutes before telling us they ran out of rice for our plates. The food is good but I probably won’t be using this location again.”

Oasis Mexican Cafe

Address: 210 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, TX 78215, USA

Restaurant

“"Amarillo by morning". . . a perfect song for completing a breakfast taco run to this canary yellow painted restaurant. I would also offer "Midnight at the Oasis" as another attribute capturing song title, but this is a typical taqueria with a witching hour of 2 pm. Parking is a Rubick's Cube activity finding that three sides of the property are actually numbered slots for public pay parking. After a couple of circumnavigations and u-turns the final solution came via one of five or so spots parking on the street in front of the restaurant. How are your parallel parking skills? Shut the front door, the back door and the shutters! The menu prices read like what you get with a 50% discount from Mexican food restaurants with a more northerly latitude. Mostly some good basic Tex-mex. Chip service was a flimsy, 5 and 10 cent store (what's that!), dayglo green, plastic bowl of a few, almost fresh chips. The 2 enchi 2 puffy, guac, rice / beans plate broke the bank at $8. The puffies were about 5 psi low, but I will definitely not bother checking for a leak at that price. Not the same owner as the other Oasis on Main street. As many "decamesas" (what we call dives and cafes having 10 tables or less) as we have been to it seems there is always one more.”

Loaded fries and shawarma are a must if you’re undecided. The plates are loaded with meat which is perfect for any meat eater! My son devoured his shawarma bites and dipped his fries with the side of garlic sauce! We are very lucky to live close by and enjoy the pita chick on the regular! It’s definitely a must at El Camino!”

Roadmap Brewing Co.

Address: 723 N Alamo St, San Antonio, TX 78215, USA

“What a cool place! The guy behind the counter took his time to explain things to us, as we were not familiar with certain types of beers. We tried a couple from their selections and they were really really good, with a special mention for the golden stout! The do not offer food directly but there was a food truck right outside. The interior is also stripped to the bare but with a beautiful and modern industrial feel! Looking forward to another visit next time I am in town!”

Three Amigos Grocery

Address: 303 NW 36th St, San Antonio, TX 78237, USA

Restaurant

“First time coming. Always heard good things about this place. And so I decided to give it a try. it's fairly priced and they give you a good portion too. Ordered the pineapple chicken w/ noodles. Fist time trying pineapple chicken in general and what I can say about it is, it is pretty good. Noodles was fresh meaning it was being poured onto the pan as I was waiting for my turn to order. Egg roll was delicious and crab rangoon was also good, not sweet but with a hint of saltiness which makes it better. They do have a limited menu and the special orders on the menu are made to order so if you're interested in eating sweet/sour pork or combination fried rice or any of the special order items it is best to call ahead to order unless you're willing to wait a bit in store. I would recommend to any one who is wanting to try Three Amigos.”
