Maudie's Hill Country

Stuffed shrimp avocado salad for the win!!! The portions of the Galleria location seem to be a little smaller than years past, but other than that, it is a great place for Tex Mex in Austin. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t already. Service is excellent!

Maudie's has great chips and salsa. It's one of our favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in the Austin area. Tried this shrimp/avocado concoction. Very delicious! If you're in a hurry, they are super quick! Even at their busiest, their service is great.

The food and the atmosphere are very decent. It's kid friendly too. However, the bar leaves a lot to be desired. Their regular margaritas are overwhelming on mix and their "skinny" margaritas are simply inconsistent. In the same night we've had a decent skinny margarita followed by another skinny margarita they simply can't get right. At $9 to $11 per margarita, they should be awesome each time. The other cocktails are also pricey and just as inconsistent.

Otherwise, I think this is a great place to take your family for some Tex-Mex food and maybe a beer or two.

Always feel weird going in here. Don't know if it's due to the lack of a greeting you receive every time you walk in, or the hostesses looking at you like you owe them a tip for a simple to-go order. The breakfast tacos aren't bad though. Keeps me coming back.
