“Overall great service, friendly staff, but is an absolute shame these young people have to work here with No air, when there is a heat wave on in the area, temps outside of over 100° we got our sandwiches to go and ate in the car because it was to hot inside, it was miserable, I felt bad for the workers.”

“The food is made fresh with quality ingredients. Staff is friendly and helpful. Atmosphere for eating in is very relaxed and homey.”

“The food was phenomenal. I got the biscuits and gravy with a buttermilk pancake. Loved the price (under $10 for both) and our server was very sweet. 4 stars because there was only one server and one cook in the kitchen for a semi-full restaurant. My friend Steve and I probably waited around 30 - 40 minutes just to get our food. We were in no rush, but a little extra staffing would get this place over the hump.”

“As has been the case with most restaurants that I have experienced around this area, you have to approach them from a perspective of lowered expectations. First off, I want to say that the staff was a sweet as they could be. Honestly, I'd give the staff at most places in the area high marks in general. The area has a lot of people who were at least nice to us. But being a restaurant, I have to also factor in the food. Now the food here wasn't bad per se. It just wasn't particularly good, either. It was perfectly average. And while I am tempted to add a star because the people were so nice, they were not particularly great at their job. You order at the counter and then go sit and they bring the food. We opted to sit outside and we basically had to fend for ourselves. Needed napkins, had to go find them. Fork was missing, had to go find it. Now it is the type of place where even if you are not used to such, you find yourself not minding. But at the same time, it is not the expectation when going to a restaurant. All of that said, based on the options in the area, if we had to eat out in that area again, would probably eat here.”

“I didn't think that it existed at first but it is actually hidden inside the gas station continence store. There is a tiny light up sign in front window but otherwise I would have completely missed it. While physically there, if there wasn't a guy behind the counter I would have sworn it was closed. In the end I couldn't bring my self to eat in there because it was hot and they were out of white bread, the most basic of basics. ”

“A great time at Sirianni's Cafe. Everything we ordered was excellent--pizza, meatball sub and garlic chips, a unique dish for us. The servers were very friendly and really worked to make it a nice experience for us. They even gave my daughter bread to feed the geese. Highly recommend this place. I know we'll be returning.”

“Decent Burrito We had decided to give Hellbender a try since people online were excited about their burritos. I had the steak which had tender steak chunks throughout and the wife had the chicken which was tender. She loved the flavor of the guacamole. The one downside of the steak was there was no kick to it. If marinated in spices, I believe it would kick it up a notch prompting me to bring this rating up to a 4 and to hit a 5 would require better chips as they were of average quality. The salsa was great so better chips would definitely compliment the meal experience. The noise level here is moderate and there is limited seating so keep that in mind as the weekend crowd can fill up the tables quickly. I am curious as to why they serve a spoonful of slaw with their burritos.”

“Was not disappointed in stopping in for dinner here, especially on a Wednesday which happened to be burger night. We both had well done burgers with bacon, mushrooms, and roasted red peppers. Delicious and juicy, not to mention hot off the grill. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Loved that old time restaurant vibe. It was like stepping back in time. Yes, as others have mentioned the bathrooms are small, but hey!, that's not a place where one eats their meals. LOL Quiet dining to relax in after hiking and sightseeing as noise level is moderate.”

“Loved this place. The staff is friendly, chatty, funny as well as fast and efficient. The sandwiches we got were super delicious as well. There is a large space inside as well as tables to sit outside. I would definitely come back!”

“The food is really good. My wife loves their breakfast scramble and I generally have something different every time. Prices are reasonable. If I had to complain about something it'd be that after you get your food sometimes it's hard to get more coffee or another drink or something.”

“We visited Blackwater Falls for a few days and we ate at Sirianni's Cafe twice and both times we enjoyed it so much! The pizza crust is so good and the pizza ingredients were fresh. My daughter had the Garlic Wedges and she loved them. If you like garlic, you will too. Our server was Lauren and she was so friendly and attentive. We even recommend Sirianni's to a couple we talked to at the lodge and they came back and told us they enjoyed going there and thanked us for recommending it to them. You need to try it too!!!”

“I was surprised to see that Davis, WV was “trendy” enough to have a spot like this in town. Lots of organic fare, and for my personal interest, a good amount of food off the beaten path (e.g. goat cheeses, elk and venison meat). Nonetheless, the fares on offer are pricey, and some items can be procured for less right down the road at the grocery store. It is nice that most items are local (between VA, WV, MD, and PA).”

“They were a bit shy on beer selection however what they had was good. The service was great and the food delicious though a bit pricey. But worth it ! Just a note, if you have your pet with you, they can join you on the outdoor deck while you enjoy great food and beer.”

“Great food, good atmosphere. The ribs were good, brisket end appetizer was excellent. Carolina style signature barbeque sauce. Corn bread was amazing. Even the iced tea was above average. For an appetizer we got the spinach artichoke dip was also very good. My wife's steal wear cooked to perfection. With all that I would say the server we had was possibly one of the most friendly and downright best server I've ever had. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.”

“I'm totally in love with this place - food with a mission is something that I'm all about. The girls who work here are really sweet and super cool, and the food is really good! Make sure you bring cash with you if you're an out of town visitor as they don't take cards.”

“We really enjoyed the Sunday Buffet breakfast. The lodge at Canaan is lovely and the Hickory Dining Room is pleasant with a gorgeous view of the valley.”

“By far the best place in town for inexpensive eats. Waitresses were friendly and knew the repeat customers and locals. Great coffee and choices for a hot meal to start your day. There is a handicap entrance on the backside as there are stairs leading up to the restaurant from the front entrance. Credit cards welcomed here. A great place to socialize with the locals or other travelers. Kid friendly.”

“Think it may have a chance but time will tell, opened in April and may need some time. Monday is steak night, $1 per ounce for NY strip. Steak was good but only came with fried string beans and fries. Option of baked potato and salad would have been nice. No alcohol, bar under renovation and supposed to be done next week. Appetizers seemed over priced. Wednesday is wing night. Appearance may not be what you're looking for but food was good so I'd say give it a try if you're in the area.”

“Great spot! Cool art and branding on side of building. Nice outdoor spot. Super friendly & helpful staff but with good vibes. Outdoor space was a nice touch & there was live music the night we were there! I had 2 drafts of the Cold Trail and brought ho.e a six pack of Almost Heaven (a favorite of mine). Would highly recommend!!”

“Evidently this is where the Thomas locals go. Looks possibly sketchy from the outside, but really nicely decorated and fresh on the inside. Bigger than I thought. Decent selection of bottle and can beers along with the usual hard liquors at great prices. There's a separate little room with a well-maintained pool table and equipment for 75 cents a game. Friendly staff and patrons. Live music.”

“Good home cooking. Some special offerings. Short on ingredients Monday morning = no fried potatoes. I don't think this was an every day occurrence. Wait staff was awesome and food was tasty.”
