“We can’t get enough of The Marigold Room! All of the staff are very friendly and kind, and the beautiful interior adds to the welcoming atmosphere. The drinks and food are all very mindfully curated and crafted and are truly all delicious. I aim to try something new every time I come here and have always enjoyed everything!”

“Most delicious bakery in Madison! We were fortunate to have Bloom cake and cupcakes at our wedding! The bride is gluten-free, and If you’ve been to Bloom, you know how delicious their baked goods are. (If you haven’t been to Bloom, you should go right now.) The staff was easy to work with and they provided us with a tasting box option to help narrow down the flavors we were looking for. We served cupcakes for our guests: chocolate ganache, carrot cake and blueberry-lemon, all outrageously delicious, and our guests loved them. As for ourselves, we had a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting… and we made a point NOT to share something this good. :-) Gluten-free or not, if you’re looking for the best cake in the Madison area, then look no further than Bloom.”

“I stopped into Mercie's while on a recent trip to Madison. First of all, thank you for being open early! It should be illegal to own a coffee shop and open at 8PM or later and thankfully Mercie's opens up nice and early on weekdays and was a great early morning stop. I ordered a cup of their dark roast coffee that was delicious and also ordered one of their breakfast toasts. The toast is a thick cut of sourdough bread and is topped with peanut butter, bananas, homemade granola and a drizzle of honey. This is a fork and knife sort of toast and is absolutely dynamite. Packed with flavor and freshness, this is the sort of toast you could eat every single day and never grow tired of it. Mercie's has a great, hip vibe to it and is the kind of place that you could fire up the laptop, enjoy some coffee and get some work done. All in all, an excellent spot! One I will certainly be back to when in Madison next!”

“Their drinks are consistent in taste and quality, which is what I really want from a frequent coffee place. You can get inside pickup, which is very convenient if you are running late. Food is good - but again I'm here for the coffee.”

“Super good food, we eat here at least once a week(mostly carryout)Love the Friday fish fry (2 piece cod), eggs benedict, and the best French toast I've ever had. Reasonably priced and very consistent. Staff is good too.”

“Love the small menu! The 1855 Breakfast Sandwich was phenomenal. I also had a delicious morning bun today and it was the perfect size and fresh as can be. Haven't tried the coffee yet but 100% recommend the breakfast! My friend has tried the avocado toast and raved about it. Note to owner: Maybe you can offer sausage patties for the breakfast in the future. I love a sausage, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich!”

“2022 Edit: Best breakfast burritos and muffins around 😋 👌 😍 muffins are THEE best I have EVER had. So moist, dense, and perfect. Amazing coffee selection which includes strong, flavored, frappes. Delicious food options. Gift shop shelf with necklaces, coffee, mugs, and more. Has a play room for children. Many tables, 3 fireplaces, 2 business rooms, clean couches to relax on. Prices are very reasonable and staff is always super polite with top notch service. You walk in here and feel at home.”

“The service was great and the food was incredible. I got the spicy burrito and it wasn’t over bearing but tasty and super savory. Even my kids ate it and they are usually picky. We also had the Best forking pancake ever and let me tell you, it sure was. The pancake was fluffy and the toppings were amazing. And to add to the already amazing food they also serve Starbucks, which of course is always a need in the morning. Overall the food was incredible, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. Can’t wait to go back! I would recommend this 100%!!!”

“As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I really miss this place! Back when it was Porter, I came here often for a quick breakfast and a nice workspace. Is it ever actually going to reopen?”

“this place has exceptional service with extremely nice people who remember you, if you come by somewhat regularly. the only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the iced green tea but to be fair, the green tea I'm used too is loaded with sugar so that's probably why. However, any drink with the espresso is really good. lattés are very good where the sweetness doesn't over power the aroma and boldness of the espresso.”

“I don’t live around here anymore, but when I’m in town visiting my family, grabbing a coffee & an enormous cinnamon roll for breakfast (or a pizza & beer for lunch) at The Mazo Grind is a must! Everything is made fresh right there. Even the bread! I also really appreciate all of the milk alternatives and vegan/vegetarian options. There’s even a bunch of gluten-free options for those who are so inclined! And of course, the staff is super friendly and helpful. One thing to mention: They’re quite possibly the only coffee shop within a 50-mile radius that has a drive-thru, which sets them apart. So if you’re heading down Route 14 and need a caffeine boost, this is the place!”

“This place is so cute! There are tons of tables, outlets at nearly every table, and it is filled with natural light. It's the perfect spot to come and get some work done or settle in with a cup of coffee and a good book! There is a nice level of noise - not too quiet, but not so loud that you can't concentrate. Not to mention the coffee is excellent. I would highly recommend!”

“What a neat place! Monona Bank has done right by the community restoring their historic building. The Rotunda Cafe occupies the majority of the extra large lobby, with plenty of space to spread out. The friendly staff serves tasty local coffee and has a good looking good menu that I haven't tried yet - but I'll be going back to change that!”

“My go to, tried and true. Wonderstate is as good as it gets for espresso, light breakfast, and lunch. Always fresh and delicious food, delightful staff, and INCREDIBLE COFFEE! Everything they produce is quality and a great value for the price; Usually $5-$10 for breakfast, $10-$15 for lunch, and typical espresso prices for the best espresso in town. I’ve never once had a complaint and always feel welcomed back as a returning customer. Huge praise to the staff for being so awesome!”

“I went here with a family. The place was not busy. They took care of our orders right away. The service was very friendly! I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was not runny and thin. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the biscuits had been toasted on the grill before being put together. I really enjoyed the food. The people I went with enjoyed their food, also. I have been to this location before when it was a different restaurant. It is difficult to notice because of the way the building is built.”

“One of the smaller "dining halls" on campus. Mostly deli food, and often it's not open at night or on weekends. The Newell's Fish Fry on the second Friday of every month is good though.”

“My husband and I enjoyed tasty dumplings and appetizers in FEAST's lovely outdoor space. We started with the pickled cucumbers, which were spicy and very good. We shared a plate of the chef-recommended pan-fried dumplings for the main course - yum! It was too hot for hot tea, so we ordered a rose and an iced tea. FEAST is a great neighborhood spot. We hope to come back while the weather cooperates for patio-dining, but we really look forward to visiting in the winter when we can enjoy hot tea and warm dumplings in their beautifully renovated indoor space. The service was also excellent!”
