“It's a hidden cafe away from old town Pasadena. The bread is exceptional, and they even have table service for your sandwich if you're staying. We go here for the breakfast sandwiches, burritos especially, and the classic eggs and bacon. They have plenty of seating and internet. I wish the chairs and tables were a bit more comfortable. A caution: aside from their pastries, it takes several minutes to get any made to order ; it's not a place for an in-and-out snack other than pastries. There is a little parking in front on the street, but it's not long enough if you want to set up shop at one of the tables.”

“The food is something you can expect from Panera bread. They have sandwiches, salad and soup. You can make it two items combo which I like it for lunch. The cashier often doesn't smile at all. The servers also no expression and seems tired. I keep coming back here because I get most focused when I work on some stuffs with my laptop or iPad. I like the atmosphere here.”

“This is a tea room and restaurant in one of Pasadena's most iconic and historic buildings. The place has two rooms with fireplaces, one of them small and intimate, the other a large room with a Grand stone mantled fireplace. Another small room is tucked near the kitchen. It also has a lovely patio that additionally serves as a beautiful beer garden on certain nights. Depending on the time of day, one can get brunch or dinner, and in the afternoons a wonderful high tea. (Try the Rose Tea if you're in town for the Rose Parade!) The quiet, beautiful setting of Madeline Garden Bistro is the perfect antidote for holiday exhaustion, or for frayed nerves any time of year. They also offer paid tours of this historic building. One of the loveliest afternoons we've had in a long time when we had high tea here on 30 Dec 2018. As we live in the area, we will return again and again. We can't wait to take our little ballerina here for tea. Highly recommended for the ambiance and good food too!”

Update: having eaten here about once a week for the past five and a half years I can say with a fair amount of certainty that this is THE place to get not only one of the best sandwiches in Old Town but also hands down the best smoothies. “Upon entering the shop, the owner greeted us warmly. The interior of the place is small and cute, and is the perfect place to hang out. The waffles that we got were quite good. They were nice and chewy with slightly crispy edges. Ordering a waffle that has ice cream on it is highly recommended, because the combo is great! Considering that it is Pasadena, parking is a bit of an issue, so be ready to pay for parking at a parking meter. Other than that, this place is worth a visit!”

“Just visited the drive through. Even though there was a good amount of cars in line it moved quickly and my food was hot and exactly as ordered. I also appreciated that they offer picture and Braille menus which is very considerate for deaf customers. Two of my cousins are deaf so I like to see that consideration in a business.”

The taro slush was good, though the grass jelly was kinda frozen ($4ish). Good friendly service. The plaza parking is only 30 min or possibly get towed.”

“Sun Life’s açaí bowls are great as are the toppings that they have available. The price is slightly high but not outrageous. They have a cute storefront that has a few seats at a bar facing the shops. Although I enjoyed my bowl, I have visited other places since due to the less welcoming employees. The last time I visited the three girls took a few minutes to realize I was present, yet we are all in the front room, they were just in their own conversation. At the time this did not bother me, however when they noticed I was there they simply said “What did you want to get?” I ordered and they didn’t say anything further except for the total. I sat in the window and read and did not hear from them again. I don’t mind the minimal conversation but it felt as though I wasn’t welcome and seemed to be more of a bother. I’ll try again in hopes of a more welcoming environment but it wouldn’t be my first choice.”
