its a decent place, their barbecue is actually good. Sushi is Slightly above average, not a bad deal considering the price.

Yowzers! Stopped in after a business meeting with the Library and we were blown away by the wonderful treats that were brought to our table. The Sushi rolls were delectable, the Sashimimi was pretty and durn good. There was not a mistep on the menu. Left full and feeling fantastic.

My girlfriend grew up in San Mateo eating Hotaru. Do not expect high-end sushi or Japanese food from this place. This is a family oriented sushi restaurant that have a few decent dishes. Geisha, Ninja, Dragon rolls are all pretty good. Wait is very minimum. There is a parking structure right behind the restaurant. If you cannot find street parking you can park in the parking structure and get to the restaurant using its back doors.

Normally a solid choice for Japanese food, but today had poor customer service experience. Didn't receive our food in a timely manner, while other tables around us who arrived later had their meals. Had to ask another server about our food and had little contact with our server. Also the gyoza was falling apart and soft, not crispy. Will look elsewhere for dinner next time.
