“My +1 really wanted to try a wine bar while we were out here. The ambiance was nice, the wine was fine, the food was good, but service was "meh" and it didn't really come together like it should have. I gave 4 stars because 3 was too low, but I really wanted to give like a 3.5. We came in on a week night and the place was empty except for one person sitting at the bar, who didn't stay long after we got there. We literally stood around for a few minutes until a person on a computer in a dark back room noticed we were there and greeted us. He offered us the couch and cleared an empty bottle and some plates that had been left behind by other customers. My +1 wanted to try the mid-tier flight selection that started with chardonnay (her favorite). I'm more of a cabernet kind of guy, but they didn't have one so I tried a glass of their house blend, which was close enough. We also asked for their warmed olives and a beef empenada. The wine was decent, the olives were good, and the empenada was tasty (but they forgot the chimchurri sauce!), but we had to remind the guy serving us that my +1 had ordered a flight. A group of 4 came in a bit after us and I think the guy kinda forgot about us a couple times between them and whatever he was doing on the computer. And like other reviewers had mentioned, the food offerings were good, but nothing was really paired up and it was pretty random. Overall, the place was quiet and we had the corner of the room to ourselves, but it felt like the guy serving us was more interested in the computer, and the lack of paired wines/foods was surprising. I feel like a little effort in both areas would go long ways into what could be easily 5-star experiences.”

“We love the Sampa Explosion and the food always arrives quickly. There’s a great variety of choices depending on your level of hunger. Pairs well with a Woodhouse beer!”

“Ordered several food items to kind of keep the family satiated until we could get home for dinner. Ended up getting two burgers some tacos and a pumpkin stew inspired by African cuisine. Everything was pretty good. The burgers were definitely good and the fries were great. The stew was really really delicious the tacos were good but I probably wouldn't get those again. One thing I didn't like was the gentleman making the food was not wearing gloves but besides that I would definitely go here again.”

“A great atmosphere to hang out. Many friendly patrons but.. 1. Service is Lackluster. The girl at the front counter on Sunday at 12:30 pm is a walking zombie. 2. There is very little interest shown in the faces of the people working there. 3. I don't eat meat. I know it's tough to make I/2 veggie w/o meat touching the other side. But oh well... On the bright side , there were two employees moving around and talking to people with a smile on their face. The Greek salad was real good. The ice tea is probably one of the best I've had in a restaurant. The RUSH pinball was lots of fun. Go and play.”

“Went to Pana with my cousin about 8pm, not realizing they were closing. A employee named Dan said he could still make us something to eat. We placed our order and Dan answered all my questions as it was my first time. We went to another part of the building while we sipped on some drinks and enjoyed the vibe. To our surprise, we looked up and saw Dan and his coworker delivering our order to us! It was so refreshing to see an establishment go over and beyond expectations! The food was so fantastic, we return again yesterday to eat it again. I have absolutely fallen in love with this restaurant and it's quality, crafted cuisine. This will be a must when I'm in the area.”

“The restaurant itself is nice and clean. A regular ramen is around $16 and the portions are on the smaller side. When I'm comparing the price to quantity ratio it's not great. The quality and taste is good for Santa Cruz but if this restaurant were in San Jose it would not be able to compete. It's classic ramen that I expect in every way and I appreciate the addition of more Asian food in Santa Cruz.”

“Saw the place opened up in the gas station here and wasn't sure what it was about so when I was getting gas I went inside to take a look, the guy working said its all made and fried in store but it was closed and they the stuff was from earlier (it was after 9pm) and did not want to sell me it since it wasn't fresh so he hooked it up for FREE! Bomb chicken reminds me of popeyes! Def will be back”

“California dog and chili dog were fabulous! I could drink the dressing they put on the Cali dog. Kiddos loved the chili and classic dog. The Mac n Cheese is decadent. Ingredients sourced from local vendors. Fast, friendly service. Will definitely swing by again for lunch. Highly recommend the chili and Cali dogs!”

“I wanted to give this Cute Ice Cream shop more stars, but it just wasn't that great. Employees were very friendly, and the smell of delicious waffle cones was heavy in the air. Their ice cream selection is limited and quirky. Just didn't live up to the hype for us.”

“Came here twice while visiting SC and tried almost every item on the menu (and some twice). It's practically a psychedelic experience for your taste buds! “Finally a great breakfast restaurant in Santa Cruz!! Those people make their sandwich buns freshly everyday, in house. And they are delicious! You can taste the ingredients and wholeness of a homemade bread. We tried the curry moco and the mad chick sandwich. Both very tasty, juicy, non-greasy. You actually feel like eating clean, healthy food. Also, the strawberry matcha latte was a fine note to finish with. You can taste the quality of this matcha. The decor is modern and cozy. Really enjoyed hanging out there with my gf. I’m very happy this place opened, since I live in the neighborhood. Will definitely come often! If you’re driving there, there’s plenty of cheap parking: the Locust Street Garage and the Cedar/Church Garage (both located behind the adjacent blocks). There’s also street parking with meters.”

“The best gnocchi I’ve ever had. We also ordered the vongole. Authentic home cooked Italian food. We got spaghetti and meatballs to go but I didn’t get a good photo. Everything was amazing along with our server, Mateo. Can’t wait to try more dishes. Cheers!”

“I loved that this unique regional food was so accessible in downtown Santa Cruz. Everything is delicious, fresh and prepared with a beautiful smile. Worth a visit, stop by you won’t be disappointed. The lady who owns it explained how Eritrean food was a major influence on Ethiopian food and how because of Eritrea’s location along the trade routes of the Red Sea, they were like the original fusion makers, teaching the cultures around them how to mix amazing spices and flavors of the region. She even brought us real plates and treated us to a treat because of how proud of her culture she is! 10/10 recommend!”

“Went here for the first time recently and absolutely loved it. As a plant-based person, I'm always so appreciative of wholesome and locally-owned plant-based eateries and I couldn't be happier that this business moved into my neighborhood. The food was wholesome, fresh, and absolutely mouthwatering. We got the tempeh dog, curry, hot cocoa, and a brownie. My belly and my soul felt so nourished from the food here. Highly recommend!”

“Two days after Thanksgiving (2022), my wife and I were walking to neighboring Avanti Pizzeria, wondering when the new Mexican restaurant would open. We were surprised to find it already open! La Katrina had a soft opening just that Monday. So we ate there instead. I had a combination plate with a pastor enchilada and a crispy shredded chicken taco ($16). My wife had regular nachos (no meat) for $11. They feature 12 kinds of meat, and you can get any of those in your enchilada, taco (crispy or soft) or tostada. I loved the food, my taco reminded me of the favorite Mexican restaurant of my youth north of San Diego. Chips were sturdy and crispy. Order at the register and you're given a number. I wasn't given a receipt and forgot to ask later. There is no acoustic damping on any of the walls, floor or ceiling, so it sounds echoing and noisy, even though we were the only guests at first. The decor features some beautiful murals that work well with the lighting. I felt it is attractive but not cozy. No liquor license yet, but both previous establishments in this location were licensed, and I was told they hoped to have that by end of January (2023).”

“The Buttery is a lovely little place to visit and enjoy some pastries with coffee, or breakfast. The interior has an antique homey feel to it and although indoor seating is limited, there’s extensive outdoor seating. I had the hot chocolate which was very rich. The pastries were tasty (Marion-berry puff, pumpkin seed muffin, pecan sandie with chocolate on top), they’re not overly sweet which I enjoyed. The french toast breakfast was delicious, they add a lot of berries! The basic breakfast was solid, pretty big portion that can be shared amongst two people. I tried the sausage breakfast sandwich the next day and thought it was very flavorful. They use croissants and they’re so buttery (pun intended)! The sandwich was also very packed with egg and sausage which is good for your buck but I must say, I think less would make the sandwich more balanced - so you can get more of that croissant taste. Staff are very friendly. Shout out to Alex who was very helpful and accommodating. Strongly recommend this spot if you’re visiting!”

“04/22/2022 Food truck is located at Diamond View Auto Glass and Tint. Limited to no parking. There are some tables and chairs out of the sun for dining. I ordered a Carne Asada Supreme Burrito and Chips and Salsa. The burrito was a good size. It comes with cups of hot and mild sauce. I liked the hot sauce. The chips were freshly made. But they were unsalted. The cup of salsa was extremely tiny. I am not sure why you would sell chips and salsa and not give a decent size cup of salsa?”

“They just opened this week and we saw an ad on Instagram this afternoon so we ordered takeout. We got hot and sour soup, soup dumplings, and the spicy fish fillet noodles. Everything was delicious!! We are so happy to finally have a good dumpling spot in town. The staff was also really nice and seemed excited to be there!”

“Been driving by this little truck for a while it's always got a line. Never stopped man I REGRET IT!! Finally tried it and I'm hooked had the birria tacos and asada nacho fries. The homemade tortillas and the perfect ratio of meat and cheese were amazing. The nacho fries (I didn't get a picture because I was too busy eating) have homemade fries a Chipotle sauce, crema, guac, cheese and meat I want more as I write this. Was open late after 10 going back to try everything else!”
