My friends and I were eager to support this local black-owned restaurant for a friend's Birthday dinner party! The ambience was amazing! The concerns we had were with serving wait time and staff rushing us to leave the restaurant. There was a shipment issue so they had a modified menu. I waited over an hour for shrimp and lobster jerk pasta; however, I would definitely recommend the pasta! The other concern was that we were not made aware that staff would kick us out when the band began their set. Our waitress finally informed us around 9:50pm that we would be billed an additional $20/person at 10pm when the band began to play. Our bill was nearly $1000. Staff began to come over to our table and tell us that we had to leave. I would like to suggest that parties are informed of the restaurant's live band fee policy prior to being seated upstairs. It felt as though we were evicted even though we were willing to buy more drinks/bottles and food. I gave 4 stars because the food was so good & the ambience. But if I were rating based solely on how we were treated it would be 2 stars.

The service was great. The food was excellent. And the vibe was chill. I'll definitely go back.
Pictured-brussel sprouts (the best you'll ever have in life), shrimp and lobster jerk pasta, and seafood Mac and cheese. Expect to spend at least $50 on dinner and a drink.

My visit was long awaited and they did not disappoint! I have been following Chef Tobias for some time and this experience was a reflection of his passion. First, we missed our reservation time due to traveling and hotel check in, but I could not pass up trying this place. We got there about 30 minutes late and were taken upstairs to the bar. Before we could even get drinks Mr. Webster got us a table!! From there it kept getting better and better!! From the time we walked in the door the vibe was amazing. Down stairs was filled with energy and everyone having a great time. Upstairs had an ambiance of its own. Vibe was just as great with a little mood lighting. We placed our drink order and they did not skimp on the liquor. Then our awesome waitress took our dinner order, which was so difficult because everything sounded amazing. There was a little wait as expected, but we were checked on several times and Chef Tobias even made a few appearances. Our food came and it was everything!! This experience was phenomenal and the cherry on top was Chef coming outside to take pictures with myself and other diners!! Until next time, thank you for an extraordinary experience Union District Oyster Bar and Lounge!!!
