“This weekend my wife and I tried this for lunch and had amazing food. We tried the chicken fingers w/ fries, pulled pork sandwich (new to the menu this weekend is what I was told) w/ fries, and a funnel cake. Everything was tasty especially the pulled pork and funnel cake. Will definitely go back to eat on future visits to Helen.”

“This was a very good barbecue restaurant! Persons in my party had pulled pork, BBQ ribs, Brunswick stew, and smoked turkey. Every single person enjoyed their meal and remarked how tasty it was. It's a large restaurant with plenty of roomy seating. It was very clean and the staff were very friendly. They have some items that are Specialties of there's but one you don't want to miss is the fried apple pie!”

“Simply delicious German style food! Loved that they had vegan substitutes for most of the meal options. They had Beyond Meat burgers, sausages, cauliflower tacos and more. The patio views are nice too, along the river. Would come back again if I'm ever in in Helen, Georgia. Would have loved to see more sauces on the table, but otherwise everything was good. Also, I don't remember seeing the wine menu but they have a variety of wines if you ask.”

“Very very enjoyable looking at the river and the waitress was very good! My husband and I shared the bang bang shrimp and we shared the surf and turf and it was the perfect amount of food and very delicious! Sirloin was tender and juicy, lobster was cooked just right! They also gave you bread, and it was delicious! Very happy with the choice to eat here. Went at 7 pm and hardly waited for a table with river view.”

“Our waitress was fantastic. She checked on us consistently and we could tell that she cares about her job. Two other employees stood behind our table for about 10 minutes loudly complaining and cursing about another employee. I ordered the Camel Rider which was actually pretty good. No complaints there. My wife ordered the Pork Chop and Sauerkraut plate. She enjoyed the chops, but the kraut was very overpowering. Nice river view on a hot, humid day. I would probably give it another try in the future.”

“Food was great, pretzel is a must! The kids had their first schnitzel and I had my first garlic wurst. Everything was delicious. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because when we first got there we were completely ignored. The gentleman who ultimately was the one to seat us was sitting at the bar 3 feet from us eating his lunch. We literally stood in the doorway for 9 minutes waiting to be acknowledged. It was only after he finished eating that he offered to seat us. And then, once we got to the table, our waitress told us they stopped serving lunch at 3:00. I took out my phone to show her that it was 2:59 and explained that we had been standing at the front door for 10 minutes. She finally agreed and allowed us to order off the lunch menu, which was half the price of the dinner menu. Several hours later when we were walking back past the restaurant to go to our hotel, a family was walking out of the restaurant telling the people that were walking in not to bother because they had been standing at the hostess station for more than 10 minutes and no one ever acknowledged them. Seems that I was not the only one that had this problem. To be honest, I'm glad we stuck it out because the food was really good. Hopefully management can work on this issue because sometimes first impressions are everlasting.”

“First time here. Food was great. When they say their omelets are fluffy they aren't kidding! I was going to order a side of pancakes but when I seen how big they were I had to say no They looked delicious but holy cow are they huge! Our server Misty was great! We never went without. Our order was exactly what we ordered and hot when it came to our table. Only negative is we heard another server by the name of Angie say she hates people. I do believe she needs to rethink what kind of occupation she is in. It's called hospitality. I wish you the best in your next occupation..maybe factory worker?”

“Wanted pizza and we are not fans of chains. Stopped here and ordered pizzas and the bacon and cheese potato skins appetizer. The food we ordered was really good. The waiter was a younger guy that was new but he was very courteous and made sure we never needed anything. I recommend Slice of Helen. Delicious food and friendly staff! The bathroom was clean and well kept as well.”

“Awesome atmosphere, staff and food! Kevin S. was our server and recommended our food which was flawless. It was Taco Tuesday (half off Taco's) and after we ate he asked us to review the reciept to confirm it was correct. We glanced and said "yes". After getting the final receipt we noticed we were charged $10 for the Taco's instead of $5. I asked him if this was correct and he felt terrible profusely apologizing and immediately grabbed $5 out of his pocket to give to us. We laughed and said we would not accept the $5 as we had such an amazing experience there. He said "at least take it out of my tip" we laughed again and tipped 20% + . Great GREAT guy very knowledgeable and friendly. It was an honest mistake and the experience was a memorable one. Place was busy (which shows you how good it is). They had $2 beers to boot! HIGHLY recommend this fine establishment AND ask for Kevin S! Oh, the collard greens are to die for as well! Thanks Kevin for making our vacation dinner one of the best ever!”

“Well we went in but we didn't eat here. The beer menu is extensive with IPAs but had no amber or lager selections, which my husband favors. Also the menu was definitely a little trendy, which we usually like but in Helen we wanted some sausages and kraut. So we ended up leaving before we ordered anything. I think there's a way to do "trendy German" but they haven't found it quite yet. It would be nice if they could be unique but also stick to the local theme.”

“From the moment you pull up you are welcomed with a friendly smile and great service. We were immediately seated at a lovely table in the middle of the room. We ordered cocktails to start off with along with the beef carpaccio and artisanal cheese board. Both were good however the cheese board was a bit underwhelming given the $22 price tag. (see picture) No one seemed to care for the tomato jam that they put on both starters. It was a bit mushy and didn’t have much flavor and I love tomatoes. The Rondelle salad was great. I don’t care for goat cheese but they blended it with blueberries and it was amazing. I loved the flavor of the bitter/pungent cheese mixed with the sweet orange vinaigrette and candied pecans and raspberries. YUMMY! We had the braised short rib which I thought was the best dish at the table. It was fall apart tender, juicy in a light brown sauce. It came with a bacon, maple Brussel sprouts and vegetable hash that was crispy and crunchy. The others had the prime rib special that came with au gratin stacked potatoes and spinach. The spinach was very plain. They could have nailed the dish with a creamed spinach. I don’t think they put anything on the spinach. I would have given a 5 star if it weren’t for the underwhelming cheese tray and tasteless spinach. The service was fantastic and everyone there was very helpful.”

“Love this place! The menu has so many awesome options & they have specials every day. Never had a dish I was disappointed in, the prices are super reasonable & there's live piano music, by Kurt (who's so great!), every night. They have a full bar, an impressive wine menu & the every staff member I've met provides fantastic service! And, I can't forget about the desserts, they're all homemade & amazing. Love that the restuarant is in an old house, makes for the perfect atmosphere. This place is definitely a hidden gem & in my opinion, the best restaurant in Helen! Can't wait for my next visit. I recommend trying the trout & the bread pudding!!”
