“I am so glad there is now a Batson River in our backyard! As a fan of the other two locations (Kennebunk and Portland), this was a very pleasant surprise. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you are hit with Batson’s “image”… class, eloquence, rustic, charm, MAINE. The building is laced with decor (from the outside in) that makes you feel like you’re at your family cabin in northern Maine… this is a refreshing change from the coastal niche that embodies most Wells establishments. Everywhere you look there is something new to discover; from the starlit ceiling above the bar, to the gorgeous hand laid fireplace… there really was no attention to detail that was missed when decorating this establishment. The menu is somewhat limited, but in a good way. Each option has a tasteful twist on a classic dish (e.g. poutine with IPA gravy, jalapeños, and topped with crisp onion strings); and wish options like burgers & pizza, there truly is something for everyone on the menu. On this one occasion, my husband & I shared two appetizers & a dessert. The mussels were marinating in a delicious wine-based red sauce and were the largest & tastiest mollusks I’ve ever enjoyed. The poutine was comforting with a kick and the gravy left me wanting to lick the bowl clean! We finished our meal with the blueberry compote served warm in the skillet and topped with melting vanilla ice cream. There are a lot of blueberry dessert options in Maine, but this was one of the best. Lastly, Batson is known for their unique, fresh, creative cocktails using their very own spirits and house brewed beers. The drink menu offered refreshing options for summer & there were draft beer options. They also offer mock tails & 2 craft nonalcoholic beers! The service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. Sam was our waitress and she was knowledgeable, peppy and seemed to thoroughly enjoy being a part of the team. The bartenders were efficient, speedy and made even our sprite and NA beer look “important” with their drink ware and garnishes. This place is a home run… this is exactly what was needed in Wells. So grateful to have a cozy, delicious and welcoming place to hang out… all year round!”

“We had lunch here, tuna salad sandwich for me and chicken salad for my husband. Blood orange hibiscus ice tea and a freshly baked choc chip cookie. All to die for and the service is awesome! Will come back! ❤️”

“It was an ok round of golf. Course is in average condition with lots of very dried out fairways. Bunkers were inconsistent and there are ALOT of them! Greens were in good shape. The course is definitely a shot making course and one that requires you to use all the clubs in your bag. If you like to pull driver on every hole you will need to control the shot well as many shots require some type of cut/draw. We played in the afternoon so our rate was relatively inexpensive at $34.50 + cart and there was no one on the course around us. Lastly, there is a lot of new home development happening on the course. As they continue to put more houses up it will definitely take away from the charm of the course. On some holes the houses are right along the fairway, much like you see when playing courses in Florida. That’s not my favorite type of experience.”

“Seems like they know how to handle a rush. Even with only one waitress, my food came out very quick and was tasty. My daughter and I had ice cream for dessert. Only 5 dollars for both of our ice cream dishes. Dont forget the great view.”

“The food is outstanding, the service is always outstanding and the staff is exceptional. We just returned back home after spending 4 days in York and Billy's is always the first place we eat at. We had lunch once, and dinner twice. Glad we got to you Chris, and I hope you continue to recover from your back surgery. Always enjoy seeing you and your staff.”

“The food is good, comparably priced to other local restaurants. All the basic American Italian dishes. Maybe a couple of dollars more than usual because it’s in a touristy area. It’s not going to blow you away with creativity, but the portions are fair and the service is pretty good. The ambiance and interior is a little dated, but clean. I would recommend it to others.”

“Made our first visit here after several friends recommended it. It was excellent. Both of my kids got pancakes and eggs and said they were the best they ever had! I had cakes, eggs, and sausage and mine was delicious too. Prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere was like eating at grandmas house. We will definitely be back.”

“We had spent the night in Wells at the motel next to this cafe and it was highly recommended to us. It is such a great eclectic cafe. All 5 of us LOVED our food. The staff is super friendly, the food is fantastic and the coffee was great. Erin is a great asset to this place. She was so nice friendly and great to chat with. If you’re in the area stop by and grab breakfast or a sweet treat. It’s all yummy.”

“My previous review was focused on the Trucks and Pups event to kick off the 2019 food truck season. While that was wonderful, every time i visit Congdon's, whether for breakfast, lunch or the food truck park, i have a great experience with outstanding food. I can't say enough about this business. I feel they genuinely care about me, the customer, which is a rarity in our modern age of impersonal, get it now service. Show this business some love and you'll be rewarded tenfold.”

“there's so much variety here, it's hard just to choose one item. The prices aren't too bad, ranging from $8 to about $15 depending upon the size of meal you get. Good music, great atmosphere, wonderful views of the Atlantic ocean.this is one of those places that set Wells apart as a phenomenal town and a great place to come get food outside and enjoy the atmosphere and community.”

“Tasty pastries and sandwiches, but only during a narrow window of time. Show up too early and not everything has been baked/ show up too late and your favorites have been sold out. Seems like the sweet spot is about 9am. Would recommend.”

“Our server was very prompt and most pleasant. Onion rings very lightly battered and in fresh oil, judging from the color. Fries were also nicely done, very crisp. Turkey BLT wrap was delicious, all ingredients tasted very fresh. Reasonable prices. Plenty of parking.”

“Our first time there was good. Food was great. The set up is very inefficient, you come in at the basement level and go up a level to put your name on a list then back downstairs to wait an hour or more. There is a small bar in the waiting area but if you want something more than just basic drinks, you go back upstairs. Bathrooms are back in the basement and you have to pay the host. I wish we had more engagement from the server but they seem to want to get people in and out as quickly as possible.”

“The food was good dinner food. The lobster pie was delicious and a good portion. Also had a warm lobster roll that was flavorful and good in size. Had the soup sampler which was good but not great. She crab soup was too thick and the seafood chowder was too thin. I should have mixed together for the perfect consistency. The service fast and friendly.”

“This place has the best food out of our entire weekend in Maine! Really, everything was delicious. The haddock tacos were amazing and I would order again every time. The clam chowder was the best I've had in 10 years in New England... And I've had a lot of clan chowder! The fried shrimp were the little ones and so good. Raspberry lemonade, lobster, mussels, and fries also great. Definitely hope to get back here!”

“Spending a majority of my youth vacations in the Wells area, I've always had fond memories of this place. After 10+ years it's just as good as I always remembered. Friendly and attentive staff, simple but clean digs, and 10/10 food. Classic marine inspired American fare and competitive prices. If you're in the area, don't neglect the Bull N' Claw.”
