“Nice indoor dog park! Love it that when it is cold out I can relax and my dog can get the exercise she needs. No MUD and aggressive dogs are screened out. All dogs have required vaccinations so safer than public dog parks. I can also get coffee or tea in the morning or a beer and a snack in the afternoon. Both indoor and outdoor areas are great. Tried the ribs, they were excellent.”

“I ordered one of each of their tacos. They have a meatless taco, but that's a waste of time and calories. What's a taco without meat?!? I had hot sauce on the side. The steak taco was amazing. The pieces of steak were 'not too big, not too small'. When they're too small they get over cooked. When they're too big they can be tough to chew. Just the right size and great flavor. The chicken was very flavorful. The pork was my favorite. So much flavor in the meat. The corn tortillas were unlike anything I've ever had at a restaurant. They are made fresh for each order. So good. So soft. So full of flavor. Presentation was great. Atmosphere was great. Prices are what I'd expect($4-$5/taco). Tortilla chips(an often overlooked element to the official taco rating system) were awesome. Not so crispy that they damage the roof of my mouth(think cap'n crunch), but firm enough to hold the weight of the salsa. Speaking of the salsa, probably the best 'not made at home' salsa I've ever had. Yes, I'm sure the salsa you make from the ingredients you make in your all natural garden is better, but this salsa is amazing. So much flavor and not too spicy. I actually added my left over hot sauce to the salsa to spice it up a bit. If you like tacos you need to go here. If you don't like tacos, you should probably go see a doctor, they make medication for that.”

“Everything was so delicious!!!! There was about a 15 minute wait to get into the restaurant, but it was so worth it. The workers are friendly and they looked like they were having a lot of fun. The green goddess grilled cheese was SO good, and so were the pickle poppers and the truffle fries. I 100% recommend trying this restaurant. I'm definitely glad I got to while I was in town!”

“Our experience at Kawa was very good for a new sushi restaurant. Staff is new and the service was good. There was no wait on a Tuesday night and service was fast. Food came out before I could put the menu down. We ordered a mix of rolls from simple to complex and was pleased with the taste, texture and sizing. I got 8 pieces per roll which is fairly competitive with the competition. The actual fish portions within the sushi roll was the biggest I've had on the west side of the state. We are looking forward to seeing this restaurant grow here in Rockford. We are hoping they will continue to add more rolls to their menu as time goes on. They are in a great location on the boardwalk overlooking the rouge river. An endless supply of salmon awaits..”

The service was spotty - to be expected when an establishment is early in its existence - but the servers were very personable and friendly, and they got the 4 separate checks divided perfectly. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was tasty, but not what I would call hot. The Cuban sandwich was quite good. They have a great beer selection and the setting and atmosphere is very pleasant. Looking forward to returning when they’ve had a chance to smooth out some of the kinks.”

“Tried this newly opened Thai restaurant. Small dining area is clean and nicely set up. Greeted upon arrival, promptly seated and served drinks. Menu nicely presented with pictures of the meal items offered. Food was brought quickly. Spring rolls were good along with the Crab Rangoon. Main course of Green Curry was interesting. The menu picture shows bell peppers although there were none in the dish. The curry sauce was a dark green as though it had a lot of chopped basil. Overall taste was quite different from other Thai restaurants. It was almost soup like with the ratio of sauce to other ingredients.”

“I looked at the line for New York fried Chicken and I thought why not give this place a shot. When I walked in I was surprised to see a clean restaurant and a very attentive staff. It's so rare to see a well run restaurant. My experience is contrary to what other people had here so maybe it's the people who are working right now. Several times they were asking if people had been helped and was even appreciated when my name was called for my food. Just don't see service like that anymore. Great addition to the neighborhood! Food is pretty good too!”
