“The food was really good, but the service was severely lacking. We came before a whitecaps game and it was fairly busy but there were open tables so it wasn't completely full. After being seated no one came to get our drink orders for just under 15 minutes. The server we got was very nice but obviously overwhelmed. Maybe they were short staffed tonight. Once we put our food order in, it was about 43 minutes until we got it. Another family next to us had been seated and ordered before us and got their food after ours. They were visibly irritated. The food itself was great. I requested silverware for my meal and was told they didn't have any clean and it would be a few minutes. Overall they were extremely disorganized, not enough staff to handle a Saturday night and had mediocre service. I would not return.”

There was a lady front counter who had what I assume was a broken foot because she had a boot on her foot and used a walker to get around. I felt bad for her because her lazy a*% co-worker wouldn’t help her at all. The lady had to bag up food as well as run the front counter and you could obviously see it was a challenge for her. This lazy good for nothing co-worker she walked around slow as hell only helping the person at the drive through not even helping with the other orders, loud and obnoxious to her other co-workers, I would’ve loved to reach over and slap the snot out of her nose!”

“I hope you have a couple minutes to read a little about my selling to different Chinese restaurants about 30 years. I met the owner, Richard, in 1989. He set a standard of quality unmatched in West Michigan. 1. Beef Always purchased USDA choice from me. Any other Chinese restaurant used a lower grade and soaked it in baking soda to tenderize it. This results in the outside of the piece being mushy. 2. Chicken Used large whole birds and processed immediately upon arrival. I have had to personally run half a ton of chicken over to his location in a company vehicle if a truck delivery was delayed. 3.Shrimp Used non-injected natural product. Most shrimp is soaked in sodium polyphosphate. ( Read any shrimp label in your grocery store) The only reason is to force water into the shrimp. This increases the size (until cooking) so you pay more per pound for "larger" shrimp. It also toughens the shrimp and can affect the flavor. 4. Other ingredients selected for quality not just the lowest price. I have been in the back of many Chinese restaurants.This one is one of the 2 best maintained that I have ever been into. The menu has pretty standard offerings. THE QUALITY IS FAR ABOVE THE REST.”

I have had only great experiences with the staff. Always very polite and accommodating. Building interior is showing wear and tear, but I've noticed steps to address this. If a chair rail were installed around the wall of the dining area, it would go a long way to improving the appearance as the chairs have banged and scratched the walls pretty bad.”

We always have the same Pizza due to my narrow-mindedness and my wife's good graces towards me her husband of many years. As a result we had the sausage and pepperoni small 8 inch pizza, which we found to be as good as always, especially the crust and the sauce and the meat. My wife also had a salad would she found to be very good. If you're like a good Italian pizza you would be hard-pressed to find a better place than Fred's in Grand Rapids, Michigan.”
