Restaurant

“I attended "Pancakes and Mimosas", hosted by African American artist Brock Seals, in July 2022. The art exhibit featured pieces by other black and brown local artists and creatives. I really liked the event space. It is located in East Benton Park. I could see how one could be creative in the space The spot is a renovated jail house; indeed, an interesting concept. The space still has the jail cells, which creeped me out a bit given our history in the U.S. But folx were able to sell their art out of the cells. The range of art was eclectic, the pricing fair and it appeared to be a decent turnout. I arrived at the start time but as I was leaving, the line seemed to wrap around the block. The VIP was a pleasant surprise: chamagne, OJ, a champagne flute, Cardinal memorbilia, 2 Cardinal tickets and a piece of art signed by Mr. Seals. I was also able to meet Brock in person. Nice space and overrall event.”

Bruja @ Mad Art

Address: 2727 S 12th St, St. Louis, MO 63118, USA

Restaurant

“Located in Mad Art Gallery, the menu is located by the cashier: order pay pick up plates/napkins/utensils/etc then find your table. We ordered each of the three salsas to sample(red, green, spicy). Portions were generous. I suggest sharing the fries with the table!! I’ll be ordering extra pickled cabbage for them next time :) Would love a chips & salsa or queso appetizer option added in the future. The menu was a bit redundant and busy to look at but pretty basic at its core. Service was quick and helpful. Flavors were bold and craveable. Served a variety of Mexican beers.”

Happy Chop Suey

Address: 4275 Natural Bridge Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115, USA

Restaurant

“Best Chinese food in Saint Louis. Best St. Pauls, rice, Rangoons, and eggrolls. Call ahead of time, it won't take that long. When you driving by, don't blink or you'll miss it. Parking "lot" is super small, just get in when you can. And it's one of the last places that still give you a free drink when you spend over $10!! Only thing is the hot wings. They're dry, no sauce. Not my thing, but the wings were still cool.”

Station No. 3

Address: 1956 Utah St, St. Louis, MO 63118, USA

Restaurant

“I was a huge fan of this place when it was Utah Station, so I was a bit apprehensive about new Owners, new menu, but thrilled it reopened as a vegetarian spot. Now I wish I had stopped in sooner! Great vegan eats, and I loved the cocktail menu. Normally I hate fried pickles but their pickle fries are amazing. Enjoyed everything we ate. Love the new set up and decor. Of course the staff was super friendly. Why I didn't give it 5 stars, Mac N Cheese and queso was missing a little something, it can be hard to master vegan cheese but everything else was vegan heaven!”

Eat Crow

Address: 1931 S 12th St, St. Louis, MO 63104, USA

Restaurant

“Lovely bar that has a very neighbor feel. They have several beers on tap and some decent cocktails. Our waitress was amazing! We had a few cocktails, beers and some cheese curds, and the curds were not different from the ones you get in Wisconsin, okay maybe slightly different :-) Perusing the menu, I saw quite a few veggie/Vegan options, and that was good to know. Even if you don’t eat here, you can go across The street for some pizza. We sat outside as they have a lovely outside seating area with vines that cover up the entire side wall of the building (see attached photo). The weather was lovely (mid September) and it was a beautiful experience, both in terms of the cool breeze on your face and the killer service. Not to mention the steady stream of the best 80’s metal blaring through the speakers I will be going back!”

Sando Shack

Address: 3173 Morgan Ford Rd, St. Louis, MO 63116, USA

Restaurant

“First time trying and wasn’t disappointed. Fun small space with great staff but limited counter dine-in seating, so if you’re planning to eat there eyeball how busy they are first or get your order as take away. Since it was our first time in we tried their signature chicken katsu sandwich, I got curry fries and my friend got regular salt fries, and we shared a side of the Pork Wings mostly because we’d never heard of them. The sandwiches were very tasty, a bit over fried/burnt but still great flavor and extremely juicy meat. Literally had juices flying out when I bit into a thicker part of the chicken, so kudos to the chef for making that happen with fried chicken! 😍 Having had this type of Japanese sandwich in both Tokyo and Paris, I missed the traditional hyper attention to perfectly neat dimensions and clean cuts so the sandwich is beautiful to the eye, but totally understand if this isn’t their goal and they’re focused on a casual, even if a bit messy to eat, style katsu sandwich. The Pork Wings were amazing! Perfectly cooked with a flavorful Asian style BBQ. I’d honestly order just those if i could get it with a side of rice and Japanese pickles! I wish they had more Japanese tea drink options, lots of sugar heavy options but would love cold black, green, or even barley tea options as they pair well with salty fried foods. Overall, wasn’t blown away but enjoyed it and will definitely go back as I know they’ll improve as they get settled in their new space. 😋”

Black Sheep Whiskey & Wine

Address: 3153 Morgan Ford Rd, St. Louis, MO 63116, USA

Restaurant

“This place shares a place with Mama's 2's Biscuits... Mama's 2's is the earlier lunch place, then Black Sheep opens in the evening (with a different food menu, and more drink options. Some of the drinks are the same as the Mama's 2's though). I only dined during lunch hours (so Mama's 2's), but I wanted to upload some menu pictures as I didn't see any on here.... If the food/drinks is anything like mama's 2's, this place will be amazing! Definitely looking forward to updating this review. :)”

Mama 2's Biscuits

Address: 3151 Morgan Ford Rd, St. Louis, MO 63116, USA

“Great place to grab brunch if you are craving various forms of biscuits and gravy. The menu has numerous biscuit sandwiches and a pretty tasty biscuit flight if you want to try a variety of gravies. It is also a great place if you are vegetarian as they have both vegetarian biscuit and gravy options. Great brunch cocktails as well! Friendly staff and excellent service. Definitely worth checking it out!”

Gallery Pub on Thurman

Address: 4069 Shenandoah Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110, USA

Restaurant

“Nice little corner Pub. Very friendly proprietors who live in the neighborhood! Full bar and plenty of good beer on tap. Live music each week. This isn't a craft cocktail bar but they can toss together a competent Boulevardier. The in house pizza is pretty great. They sourced a proper pizza oven and the head chef is eager to please. The local art on the walls (for sale) is a great touch and it changes frequently. Dog friendly patio.”

Baileys' Range

Address: 4175 Shaw Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63110, USA

Restaurant

“Sometimes a movie sequel doesn't measure up to the first one, but this Bailey's Range is every bit as good as the original. The beef is tops and cooked correctly, and fries are so crispy! The ketchup is homemade ... real tomato flavor. Ice cream is homemade too! The back area has a series of glass garage doors, so the interior is flooded with light; I bet they open them in the fair weather for the breeze. And the staff were friendly and efficient. Top marks!”
