“I have been in several times since first treated to lunch here. It is a clean, quick simple place to get a no frills meal. With no frills, you get lowest price, yet best quality of that food item. Easy location at Walmart complex. Friendly staff. Need to pay in Cash, but they have an ATM in there left of the entrance. You can buy a family lunch or breakfast here and not break your bank. Great concept that is working. They honor Service vets and all Military as you can see from their walls. A true American diner establishment!”

Mel and Andy run a tight ship and there is always a line out the door so I would call ahead if you don't have a long lunch break or need to grab and go. “I’ve read through reviews. As a waitress here, I love my boss and I love working here. I’ve seen people complain about the salads having no toppings- way too many people were complaining about picking the carrots and cabbage out so he stopped putting it in there all together. Yes, we usually only have one waitress working every night because unfortunately people don’t want to work. We can’t help that. Some of you have complained about a long wait time knowing there’s only one server, and with no one wanting to work, how are we suppose to control that? Anyways, I’m here to say, I LOVE the food. I’ve known Seth since I was 16 and have worked here on and off (because I move a lot) I’m 26 now and work here currently. Couldn’t pat him on the back more for all he does.”

“I eat here often. It's really inexpensive, healthy, and quick. Today was a Spicy Italian. On a 9 grain whole wheat bun, with 6 slices of pepperoni, 6 slices of salami, and 2 slices of pepper jack cheese. Toasted. Added baby spinach, tomatoes, onions and banana peppers. Then sweet onion sauce and chipotle mayo. $4.15. 6" sub. Took 20 minutes from entering to finished eating.”

“My family and I recently moved to Southport a few months ago, and it wasn't until I moved here that I first tried Papa John's; boy was I missing out. I've tried just about all the other fast food pizza joints, and I must say, Papa John's is probably my new favorite. The ingredients always taste fresh, prices are reasonable, and orders typically only take 15-20 minutes to complete (sometimes even sooner). The only criticism I have is that I wish they offered flavored crust. Regardless, the pizza is delicious!”

The waiter was friendly and the food came fairly quick for how busy they were. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to eat because everything looked so good. Waitress took at least 15 minutes to get to our table, then was very "short" with us while taking our order. Ordered the fish and chips, which was very good. Hubby had wings, which were on special. He liked them. It amazes me how some places stay afloat with rude staff. Plenty of other places that treat customers well with comparable food so we probably won't return.”

“Amazing Thai food! We ordered take out from this Thai restaurant, and it was authentic and delicious. The flavors in the food were amazing and it was cooked fresh, to order. The owner was nice and worked as quickly as she could. On this evening, she was only accepting take out orders (must not have had the staff to open the restaurant). We later learned the woman owner has been through a personal tragedy and is trying to keep the restaurant going with the overwhelming orders (due to how good the food is). So, if you want some great Thai food, either be patient or order early in the evening. We ordered pad thais with chicken, sweet and sour chicken (it's not breaded), and chicken fried rice. We made quick work of the food, it was SO GOOD! Highly recommended and plan to eat there twice this week.”

My favorites are the Baja tacos, BELT sandwich, crab cake sandwich, and if you can get it on Sunday brunch, the infamous french toast with plantains and homemade rum syrup!!! To die for!!! You can sit inside or outside! The atmosphere is great and the staff are friendly and attentive!”

“I love this place! I am an iced coffee fanatic, but not all iced coffees are made equally. The drinks I got at Island Jo were FANTASTIC and really hit the spot. They have so much variety. The coffee is smooth and not too sweet or too bitter. It's how coffee SHOULD be. My breakfast sandwiches were amazing too. I took some egg, bacon, and cheese bagel sandwiches back to our vacation spot and my parents who grew up on Philadelphia delis were really impressed as well and said they were excellent. Likewise, my husband said their "rye was amazing and perfectly toasted". The service we had was great. You can't ask for more than friendly, personable, and quick. I'd go here everyday if I lived in Oak Island.”
