Maretta, Chris, Helen, and Stephanie are the friendliest and most hard working servers! I’ve never tried their steaks, so I can’t speak for them. Their fried seafood is the best in the area, in my opinion. Food is hot and fresh. It seems to be breaded and fried to order, so be sure to allow time for this! It’s so worth it! They have the most tastiest and mildest salt and pepper catfish I’ve ever had! On Tuesday night, they have a catfish and baby shrimp special for $10.95! Ambiance is simple, yet cozy. I visit about once a month!! Also, If you like Onion rings, they are beer battered, and served piled high here! There’s plenty to share!”

“My first visit here, but it was very pleasant. The staff are very friendly. You may read over the menu by the door before going up to place your order. My friend got sliced brisket which he said was delicious and I opted for the taco trio which came with a Brisket taco, pork taco and chicken taco and a side of home cut potato chips that were amazing! The ambience is pretty cool and laid back. Plenty of things to look at while you eat. I'll definitely be returning.”

“I'm a frequent visitor to Black Mountain, but this is the first time I've actually been able to eat lunch at the Veranda Cafe. Excellent experience all the way around. First, the food was outstanding. I tried one of the special soups - a creamed collard greens and ham - and the special of the day - Asian pineapple chicken curry over rice. Both were savory and delicious. Topped this off with a delectable salted caramel cheesecake with freshly made decaf coffee. Perfect complement to the meal. Also, the staff was friendly and attentive (even with a full house), and the decor/environment was warm and cozy on a sunny but chilly day outside. I would also recommend getting there early. By noon on a Tuesday, the restaurant was full with a growing waiting list. But the wait is worth it. Highly recommended.”

“We've dined at Denny's before, but at a different location. I don't know why this particular location has the rating it has, but our experience was great. Staff was very kind and attentive, and the food fresh and delicious. At the end they refilled our drinks to go and even made me a fresh cup of coffee to go. Awesome service!”
