“This is one of those "have to splurge one night of your vacation and go here" places. Both the food and service were consistent with what you'd expect of the finest of dining establishments but in a cozy mountainside setting. Everything we had was phenomenal and service was spot on and personal. The chef came and visited our table several times to ensure everything was to our liking. I can't say enough good things about this place if you're looking for an amazing dining experience. I would highly recommend it!!!”

“My fiance took me to Gideon Ridge recently for the weekend where he proposed because he knows how much I love this place. Overlooking the mountains in Blowing Rock, it is the most romantic destination to stay for the weekend or simply make a reservation for dinner (one of the best restaurants in the area). The accommodations are absolutely beautiful - each of the ten rooms has its own touches that make it unique and special. The staff was so incredible all weekend in making our engagement so very special. They truly thought of every single touch to make it the most memorable weekend and experience of our lives. “Today 15-10 Combat Veterans Motorcycle Club (CVMA) rode to Buffalo Mercantile Company and Cafe. It is a long, but scenic ride. Because of the location, feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, it would be easy to drive right by this place. Once inside this quaint 100 yr old building is a mercantile that also includes some antiques and pottery. In the back is a small dining area that is rustic and clean. We had reservations for 12 and all agreed the food was great. Sandwiches and pizzas, made with homemade crust, were flavorful and fresh. Would recommend the Mercantile for a day outing.”

“The food here is very good. The prices feel a little higher but I haven't directly compared to find out for sure. Regardless the food is worth the price. I absolutely love the sesame chicken and beef fried rice. We've never actually sat down and eat inside but it seems fairly quite and peaceful. I should also note that the staff is polite and respectful from my experience.”

This is Salvadoran food, so it isnt inherently spicy as Mexican food can be, but there are sauces to choose from if that's your thing. Our waitress was helpful and sweet. “I would have given them 5 stars but was a but pricey for a burger. The staff was knowledgeable able the food, restaurant history and the area. My waitress was a very nice young lady. I went in not having a very good day and she had me walking away with a smile. Kinda down i sat in a booth just waiting my turn, she walks up to me says it's your lucky day, and she opened a box that had handmade creme puffs in it, i reached in and picked one. Although this seems like a small thing but on this day it was huge to me. Food was good but a bit pricey. Thank you to the young lady that noticed I needed a warm smile! Not enough local businesses have warmth that people need when you come in.”

Their gizmo to take my debit card payment had issues reading my card but the lady who served me was calm & didn't give me a hard time. I had seen the same situations with the gentleman before me & she was calm w/him as well. The store was clean despite the customers leaving as I entered. “I really enjoyed the food here at Empire Buffet. It's so good I bought a chair here and live in the corner full time. Sometimes they tell me I can't live here but I know they are just playing around. I do understand that I might need to keep my pants on when I am watching the game on my cell phone. Only thing is I would like to get a bed in the back but there isn't enough room for it. 5 stars for the food 1 star for a place to live”

“Subway is always a good choice for lunch, they have new bread options now also. Most stores will even make your favorite sandwich, even when it is not on the menu. I have a friend that always order the chicken pizziol I and most of the workers know what it is and how to make it, even though it has not been on the menu in years.”
