“This is a hidden gem in the Viewmont area of Hickory. This restaurant has dim lighting, except at each table, where there is a hanging dedicated light over head. We were there late in the evening, and only a few other tables were taken. The eating area is very clean and organized. The food is very fresh tasting, not overcooked and flavorful. We will definitely go her again in the future.”

“Ok, you are probably doing the same thing we were, searching for a restaurant in Hickory that has good food and a nice environment. Well, the environment in the Olde Tavern is "sports bar" - for sure, BUT our jaws dropped at how good the food was. We would have clearly paid double the price for the food we ate. The special was Salmon stuffed with Crab and I had the potato cakes with it. My wife had a Strawberry and Spinach salad and she added the Blackened Whitefish to it. The taste of everything on the table was so good, that words would not do it justice. Plus our waitress was incredibly kind and funny. We left the place knowing that we would not have another meal that good, for that price, for a long time to come.”

“I will make this statement before I really start my review. I frankly DON'T like Spicy hot foods! That being said, I just ask if a menu item is spicy hot before I order it. This restaurant in particular has made vast improvement in its customer service, menu, and going out of the way to help each and every customer. The staff in general is bilingual with several staff members speaking multiple languages. When I ask if an item is spicy, they will tell me if a non-spicy version can be made. If a child(ren) start being "bored" or acting up a staff member or manager brings a toy, coloring mat, anything until the orders are ready. I like the attitude and helpfulness of the entire staff.”

“This place is amazing. I've been here a couple of times and the food is always great. They always have breakfast which is what I always get, but they also have other options for every taste Talking about taste, I've always had the French Toast and I have to say, they are amazing. I've also tried other dishes and they are all good. Flavor is always there. In regards to presentation, well this ain't no 5 star dining. But it's not all that bad. I mean, it's a quick grab a bite and go kinda place. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because I think they always fall short when I ask a latte or a cappuccino. They have an awesome coffee machine but they somehow don't seem to make good latte, just OK latte. I love how they are always friendly and willing to help out if the order does come out wrong. Great place to spend with friends and family. FIX THE COFFEE and I will give 5 stars AND edit this review. This is my favorite breakfast place in all of Hickory and would love to see you guys do even better. Can't wait to return and grab something new to eat.”

Sushi used to be great, now it involves microwave and poor quality. I only am giving four stars for the food, as the staff are massively deficient. “I'm not a big fan of Japanese, besides sushi. So I've heard alot of nice things about this place and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. This is a very nice, upscale, restaurant. Which only accepts reservations. We ordered 3 rolls of sushi. Must order soy wrap! And ordered 3 meals, which were all delicious. Everything here taste like how daddy cooks. “Great service and good music. They were playing actual Irish music. Don't order the Shepard's Pie though. They didn't brown the lamb, there was no gravy just a clear oily broth, the carrots were chewy, and the whole thing was incredibly sweet. The wait staff was immediately attentive though and switched it out for Bangers and Mash pretty quickly. Much better. I'll definitely come back but just won't order the Shepard's Pie.”

I'm a big dude, and they always give more than I can eat, which works out great for supper or lunch the next day.
