“Awesome Mexican food! I recently ordered food from Kahlovera Street Tacos from a friend’s recommendation. As you can see, I still went on a rainy day and I was very satisfied with the food I ate. When I placed my order, I spoke with the owner about his business and my familiarity with Mexican food as I was raised in AZ and Southern CA. He recommended that I try a Huarache, I chose the pork – basically similar to a tostado with a slightly thicker tortilla base. It was excellent, very tasty. I also had a cane asada burrito, and once again it was excellent. The owner suggested that I try all of his hot sauces. Not sure of the names, but the red medium sauce with the pepper seeds was my favorite. The red hot sauce that was creamier had a good zip to it, but not too hot. The green medium sauce with the pepper seeds in it was very good. I did not try the green creamy hot sauce, but I will next time. I am a Mexican food aficionado; I love the authentic Mexican flavors and dishes they cook here – very uncommon along the East Coast. This was my first time visiting Kahlovera Street Tacos. I sometimes go out of my way for great eating venues, and I will be eating here every time I am near Durham. Highly Recommended - Bravo!”

“Tried this new place out today. The staff was friendly and the chopped pork with vinegar sauce was excellent. Also tried the stew, beans and collards and will plan to be back for them again. A great experience and likely the best pork bbq I've had in awhile. Update from my second visit: The chopped pork continued to be excellent and the collards may have even been better the second time around! Love the folks here and will continue to keep coming back.”

“My roof and I are both very happy with Alpine Roofing. As a social scientist, I was intrigued with how this company organizes itself to ensure the highest quality work and interaction with customers. I called David on the phone, my first contact with Alpine. David quickly sent Christian to follow up at my home to provide the estimate for the job. Both steps were carried out in a very timely way and I scheduled the work much more quickly than I expected. Donesha took responsibility for the work next, meeting with me to look at the site and to coordinate preparation with me so the workers would have designated areas for access, materials, the disposal trailer, etc. It was very easy to communicate with her and the workers followed the plan she and I worked out. Once the work began, teams took on specific tasks. Scheduling of the specialized teams was impeccable and very efficient, thanks to Nathan's work behind the scenes. I talked with Francisco, one of three foremen with Alpine, who described how much he appreciated the chance to take responsibility for the quality of the teams under his supervision. I think that the way the company is organized allows each worker to know exactly what his/her job is and each person has the opportunity to take pride in what they have contributed to the overall job. The sense of pride and accountability is the secret to the high quality of the whole job. My neighbors noticed how clean the job site was, how little the job intruded on neighbors and how very efficiently everything was run. One neighbor, an architect, plans to recommend Alpine to clients and friends on the basis of his observations and my very positive recommendation. As I told Christian when I paid for the work, I have never had more fun working with an organization, and I credit the unusually sophisticated structure and functioning of Alpine Roofing.”

“A few of my colleagues took me out to lunch here, and it's legitimately some of the best pork I've had in the area. The chopped pork is good as is, but their vinegar sauce is really next level. The beans have some very interesting flavors in them (can't quite pin the spices, but I know I've tasted them before), and they are absolutely delicious. “Sho Nuff is good. I’ve been to the truck 4x. The first time was so delicious ????. The second time I went was on a Friday when everything is fried. I must say that although the fish was fried good and crispy, it wasn’t seasoned. It was bland. My fried lobster tail had uncooked batter. The third time I went, all of the food was literally drowned in butter. The fourth time (pictured) I was weary of going because of the less than desirable 2nd and 3rd experiences however, the food was bomb (really good). I would give them another try and I would recommend it to a friend.”

“Having moved to South central Virginia (backwards rural area) from Hampton Roads, I had lost faith in the Chinese food of central Virginia and NC. I happened to be in Durham yesterday and found this gem of a place. Good ole' fashioned Chinese food like I used to get when I lived in Virginia Beach. Kwik Wok is the best Chinese food I've had in 5 years since leaving Virginia Beach! The mushroom egg foo young was excellent and the sauce was seasoned perfectly. The onions in the fried rice were perfectly cooked. This place looks like one of those typical chinese places serving the mystery meat (cat, dog, skunk, or whatever), but don't let the look of the shopping center fool you! Two enthusiastic thumbs up!”

“We went to eat-in late on a Sunday evening after 8:00. We were one of 3-4 parties eating in. Salad bar was fine with all fresh stuff. They sell beer in bottles. Pizza came promptly, hot and fresh and tasted great. The facility has obviously been there a while but it seemed to be clean and well cared for. Since I know Pizza Hut maybe my expectations were set accordingly, still I’m quite pleased with the whole experience. If I had suggestions, it would be more light in the parking lot, more attention to keeping the glass clean and, if the customer can see them, don’t let the garbage cans get full.”
