CURRY GATE OF SOUTH BLVD

Address: 5516 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28217, USA

Restaurant

“My sister and I dined in here for our first time two nights ago, and the food here was delicious! I ordered the Chicken 65 biriyani, chicken 65 and garlic naan! Everything had so much flavor and the dishes were so colorful and appetizing. Their garlic naan is some of the best I had. It was so thin and had a crispiness to it. I like to dip it in their mint chutney sauce…very flavorful!! The staff was also very friendly and made for an even more pleasant experience! This will be my go to Indian restaurant!! THANK YOU!!”

Taquería chile frito

Address: 5130 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28217, USA

Restaurant

“Stumbled upon this hidden gem next to the U-Haul shop after a long long day of moving. Not only were the people friendly at 10pm on a Sunday night, the food was AMAZING. Best authentic Mexican food I’ve had since moving to Charlotte in 2021. Im pretty picky about where i get Mexican food since we had so many gems like this in Florida. It reminded me of home and the prices were fair. Portions were great too. Definitely will drive all the way back to get it again.”

The Auto Pour

Address: 5033 South Blvd O, Charlotte, NC 28217, USA

Restaurant

“We were here on a Sunday afternoon for a private birthday event. And the experience was nothing short of top-notch. The space is large and organized very well with stations of wine separated by dryness. Each cylindrical station has a number of wines with the label as well as a printed description of the flavors. Typically you would set up a tab and receive your own card to track your self pours. The pours were available in 3 different sizes depending on your tasting needs. Our hosts were paying for everything so we were free to taste. There was also a DJ and a private caterer. The staff did a great job of cleaning throughout the event without ever seeming in the way or as if they were hovering. In fact, for the most part, I barely noticed they were there. But dirty glasses and empty plates magically disappeared. I tasted a few bottles of wine. While I am no wine connoisseur, everything I tasted was really good. Overall, it was a fantastic event. I would definitely come back and visit again. Pro-tip: There is a really nice outdoor patio to enjoy when the temperatures are warm enough.”

Definitely one of my new favorites for soul food. I was so excited to have leftovers, I let a friend have a bite and they were equally impressed! The icing on the cake is that they were very sweet and personable. I'll be returning in the future!”

Starbucks

Address: 3935 E Independence Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28205, USA

Cafe Restaurant

“What can I say other than I'm not really fond of this store I prefer the Idlewild location or the Matthew's location. The last two times I've come to the store I really haven't had a great experience. It seems like the store employees are either a unhappy with their job or just don't want to be there. I have tried talking to several of the people and they act like I was bothering when I was asking something for my purchase. And I ordered three small pink drinks from my daughter and her two cousins and I ordered me a large caramel caramel frappe with extra Carmel. Well the three pink drinks were made right away and I had to wait like 5 to 10 minutes for my caramel frappe I just thought it was a little odd that those drinks at there and for almost ten minutes while I had to wait for my other drink. I understand the stores new and they probably got a lot of things to work on but I'm not going to come back here I don't feel welcome”

Singas Famous Pizza

Address: 4732 Monroe Rd #120, Charlotte, NC 28205, USA

Restaurant

“So not my first time at Singas. I have been to the location in flushing Queens. When I heard the opened a location in Charlotte I ran over to have one of my favorite pizza suaces in the world 🌎. Just as I remember same great taste with all the the fresh toppings..damn good pizza. All the pizza are made to your liking I recommend everyone give it a try. Thanks you to Maurice and Darus for making my personal pie amazing. Also a big shout out to Jade for attending me and letting me know the deals available. If you buy 2 pizzas with toppings you get a free cheese pizza..it was so delicious. Everyone should come try this world famous Pizza Spot.”

Wheelz Pizza of Midtown Charlotte

Address: 901 S Kings Dr #150, Charlotte, NC 28204, USA

Restaurant

“This place had a lot of hype when it opened in Charlotte and I'm not sure it lived up to that for me. My husband and I shared: - Pepperoni Pizza - Soppressata, Roasted Red Peppers, Hot Honey Pizza On the positive side, I loved the crust. They use a sourdough crust and it's incredibly delicious. It was the highlight of the pizza for me. They also use my favorite kind of pepperoni (the little cups). The thing I didn't like about these pizzas is that there is basically no sauce. There is a small swirl of sauce on top and that's it. This made it more of a flatbread than a pizza to me which wasn't what I was looking for. If you enjoy pizza without much (or any) sauce, then this is the spot for you.”

Phat Burrito

Address: 3543 Dewitt Ln, Charlotte, NC 28217, USA

Restaurant

“Phat Burrito has been my favorite restaurant since 2001. Hated that they had to close the doors over losing their parking lot… but now phat is back and it’s great! Different, sure, but not as much as you’d think. Find me at the bar, having too many Margaritas on tap & local beers. PUT QUESO IN YOUR BURRITO! Do it. Life got better in August ‘23.”

State of Confusion- Charlotte

Address: 3500 Dewitt Ln, Charlotte, NC 28217, USA

Restaurant

“First time dining here, and it was great! We made reservations but arrived a little early, and they were able to seat us when we arrived as they were not that busy. The space is huge, so there were lots of tables available. The service was great! The hostess was very friendly, and our server delisha (not sure of the correct spelling) was great as well. The food we ordered was delicious! I would definitely return to try so more of the items on the menu!”

The Annex at Rally

Address: 117 Southside Dr, Charlotte, NC 28217, USA

Restaurant

“I had dinner at The Annex twice last week. I wasn’t sure dinner at a pickleball place was the move since I don’t play pickleball (sorry), but there were plenty of other people there just to eat and drink and watch people play on the outdoor courts, so I was encouraged. Another plus was that I got to wear athleisure to a nice dinner without getting any raised eyebrows. The first time I went was with my boyfriend and we split the elotes ribs, which were insanely good, and did our own tacos. He got the chicken which he liked a lot and I did the shrimp. The chili oil and green sauce they serve on the side were *chef’s kiss.* We also each had mezcal palomas and were advised by the bartender to try with the smokier of the two main mezcal options, which was 100% the move. We went back later in the week for my boyfriend to play in Paddle Battle. While he did that, I sat at the bar and dined solo. A weird observation is that the bar windows are giant and they leave them open to look over the outdoor courts, but they have giant fans (they don’t blow straight on you but like around you? idk) so you have the benefit of feeling like you’re eating outside while also not expiring in the July record temps. Also it somehow is NOT loud even with the games going on outside and you can hear anyone who talks to you/the music in the Annex. But about the food: I revisited the shrimp tacos and did the Rally fries, which were crispy and perfect. And of course, I had 2 more palomas. The summary is that I’ll be back later this week. Love u, Annex.”

Foxcroft Wine Co. Dilworth

Address: 1235 East Blvd i, Charlotte, NC 28203, USA

Restaurant

“I would come back for the brussel sprouts, they were so delicious! Wine was good, I like that you can get 2oz tasters of anything to make your own wine tasting, however one of our pours seemed a bit shy. The food was great, but not overly memorable other than the brussel sprouts. Loved sitting outside, it’s pretty and the lights overhead create a nice ambiance. Inside seemed very loud for a place that’s tiny and not overly busy. Overall it’s a nice place, possibly overpriced, but the food and wine were enjoyable!”

Sushi Bowl+

Address: 1412 East Blvd F, Charlotte, NC 28203, USA

The Penguin Drive-In

Address: 1531 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203, USA

Restaurant

“We tried The Penguin for the first time during Charlotte Restaurant Week (Queen’s Feast). Our service wasn’t terrible when we visited, but you could tell the team was a bit stressed and dishes were coming out at odd times (for example, our salads were served last and we saw another table confused as they received their desserts before their full meal had been served). Our waitress was flustered and apologetic about the ‘backed up kitchen’. We extend a bit of grace during Restaurant Week (this was the first weekend) as we know it’s not the standard menu, and every guest is ordering more dishes than would be typical. For drinks we had the Blackberry Mule and the Strawberry Fields. Both were excellent. I don’t typically care for Mules but am glad to have tried this one. For starters, we had the Nashville Hot Tenders and the Fried Pickles. The chicken was tender, but hot chicken is not my thing so I can’t say if it was good or bad. The pickles were very good with a light breading. Next was to be salads- the Shrimp and Avocado Salad was delicious and I was surprised at how good the shrimp tasted. For the main, I had the ‘Hike the Ball Nutjob’ and my date had the ‘Tommy Boy’. Both burgers were amazing. We ended up taking the desserts to go, so I won’t cover those here. Overall the food was very good, and we are excited to visit again and try something different and from the regular menu.”
