“This was a great, open-late bar that surpassed our expectation. The bartender and kitchen staff were friendly, approachable and made for great conversation. We went here after The Lucky Rooster left us hungry and overcharged us. My fiance got a fried grouper sandwich and this thing was not only delicious, savory with a hint of sweetness, but huge too! I got the pulled pork which was standard but great value. The drinks were splendid and the whole time was very enjoyable. Thanks everyone!”

“Decided to treat myself to a nice solo dinner and was delighted to stumble upon this place. The food was excellent!! Atmosphere was great and I loved the chefs table that was also visible from the bar. When I called to see if there were seats available I was told I’d have a seat saved for me. I wasn’t expecting that type of extended service being I’m not from the area and have never been to Sage Room before but Jason and the entire staff were friendly and inviting. I will definitely be back every time I’m in town!”

“I sat at the bar and Laura, the bartender, was great. She brought a smile and offered a beverage and menu. I got the wings: Atomic Meltdown and Red Dragon. The Atomic were very tasty and not too spicy- hot but flavorful buffalo style. The Red Dragon were a nice teriyaki with medium heat. They arrived promptly and were extra extra crispy like I ordered. Extra crispy would have been fine but after some of the reviews I saw, I didn't want to take a chance. I am a chicken wing aficionado and I am very happy I came here despite the negative reviews. The live music was very good too. I also like that they list the calorie count of the different sauces which you don't see very often. I'm impressed and I will be back.”

“The food was really good. It was the best shrimp gumbo I've had in a very long time. They know how to do the reaux here. I have to take some points though for the restaurant is in disrepair. The air conditioning was dripping condensation from the ceiling in several different places and it was just not the most cleanly place to eat. You definitely get the authentic bourbon street vibe here.”

“I wish I could go with a 3 1/2 stars for my review. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this restaurant, but there was nothing great about it either. I went with their nachos, which they claim are "touted by locals as the best on the island." Obviously, the competition must be limited, because the nachos were inoffensive but not very interesting. I ended up eating half of my son's pasta with red sauce, which was somehow more tasty. My fiance liked his fish and chips, and described the fish as better than anything he'd eat when he wasn't on the coast (aka, back home in Ohio). We sat outside in the covered eating section during the rain, which was a pretty nice experience (except when it got super windy). I did go inside to use the restroom and was glad we opted for the outdoor seating, since the indoor seating area was more dimly lit and had a bit of a bar vibe. Live music was nice, although we only heard a bit of it. I probably wouldn't seek out this restaurant again if we're back in Hilton Head, but I also wouldn't actively avoid it, either.”

“When you walk in, this place feels like an English pub. It's small and kind of dark, but the bartender is really friendly and greets you immediately. Order a drink and relax, everything on the menu is tasty. I highly recommend striking up a conversation with the other patrons as locals eat here too. Is it big group friendly? I wouldn't bring more than four people. It's a little cramped, I saw a group of 11 almost fill the joint. Is it family friendly? Not if your child is ill behaved (they have gambling machines, not video games). But if you're looking for somewhere to escape the crowds and just relax over a beer and sandwich, this is definitely the place for you.”

We asked one of our drivers about a good place to get some drinks and have a bite and he suggested this place. We gave it a shot on our first night down there and had a blast... We had such a blast that we went back twice more during our 10 days down there! The ambiance of that place is amazing and the food was excellent. Our bartender was great as were the waitresses that we had on all occasions. One night we stayed for the after hours, too. Such a great time. “GO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT. We went to Low Country Backyard to find a 1.5 hour wait. I found this place on Yelp and called them. There was no wait. Hearing there was no wait scared me a little, but I was pleasantly surprised. The owner wants your business, and he'll work to earn it. The fried chicken, baked beans, fried green tomatoes, and jalapeno pimento cheese dip was great. Everyone in my party of seven enjoyed our food. The servers check on you every 5 minutes. The owner checked on us quite often too. He was very friendly as well. I'll be back here upon my next visit to HHI.”
