“Chill modern bavarian-style cafe and breakfast spot. Order at the counter or kiosk and seat yourself in one of their uniquely decorated spaces. Good portions and options without being greasy. Would recommend to any visitor. The only downside is only breakfast time hours.”

“Exceptionally well kept cafe with plenty of space. The service is extremely friendly and the breakfast is hard to beat. The breakfast burrito is almost a must, and you should definitely order it with green chili. This is then so apetit stimulating that you can manage the large portion without problems. And also the coffee can stand up to high European standards. Simply fantastic.”

“It was amazing, food wasn't anything complicated but it was mouth wateringly delicious 😋 Me and my dad had the stew and by gosh it was perfect and warmed us right up, mom got the Indian taco thing which was good too! The Indian bread was phenomenal too, light sweetish without being distracting, and had some amazing texture to it, had to order some for desert too! This is all without even mentioning the view that we where able to see of Crazy Horse, and the environment inside was very warm, and authentic.”

“Absolutely delicious! I was not expecting to get such a delicious meal in the middle of a state park, but I was pleasantly surprised. The Walleye was fantastic and the Hot Beef sandwich was comfort food at it's finest. It's worth the drive!”

“This fantastic lil drive thru makes the best burritos! I swung by mid-morning and had to wait a while since I was fourth in line, but I'll tell ya it was worth it! My meal consisted 16 oz Dirty Chai Latte ($5.50), a Wild West breakfast burrito (sausage, egg, hash brown, caramelized onions, bell peppers, shredded jack cheese on a flour tortilla, $6.00) and a piece of Coffee Cake ($3.50). The burrito was phenomenal! It was huge and generously stuffed with the goods. They used a hash brown patty instead of loose shreds and I absolutely loved it. I didn't even need any hot sauce like I nearly always want on my breakfast burritos. It was SO DAMN GOOD. I'm astonished it was only $6.00. The Dirty Chai was perfectly made! Just the right amount of sweetness and richness. The Coffee Cake was alright. I thought it kind of tasted greasy, however it was super moist which was great. I wish I had the opportunity to stop by here a second time. The menu is enormous and everything sounded so delish! Will drop by again if I'm ever in the area.”

“The food was awesome. Service was wonderful. Our waitress had the best sense of humor. This is probably the best breakfast I have had in a long time. This is a great way to start off your day. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful also. To see our adventures subscribe to SIMPLE LIFE BIG ADVENTURES on YouTube.”

“We stopped for lunch with our family of six. Everyone loved the food and the service was excellent. All of our entrees were perfect. The burgers were tasty and well seasoned the salad was fresh. I added the grilled salmon, which was a great choice. The youngest child got cheese pizza and he liked it. 10/10! Hope to stop again some day.”

“I’m reviewing this nice restaurant from my previous experience. It’s a beautiful restaurant. Of course, the food is usually more basic and simple. I’m from California. This previous experience was from my trip to some states in the west. The restaurant is located near some nice trees that look so country and mysterious at night. If you walk into the Mexican restaurant, you will see plenty of decoration and my bus tour group was feeling easy and relaxed at such a late part of night. For dinner, I decided to go with the beef steak fajita. Even our bus tour guide did not know what my food was, at first. Then, when me and the rest of the group saw the beef steak fajita, it was all working like magic. Like I’ve said, they serve mostly basic and simple food here. The fajita sauce is very unique. What’s interesting, is the chips and salsa, because the chips and salsa also come with beans for dipping. I don’t see beans with chips and salsa very often in California. That’s very interesting. Having beans with mild red salsa does take the edge off of a long trip into this rural area. If you’re traveling to Custer, make sure you don’t drink too much and make sure you bring a nice pillow. It’s good for a bus tour trip. When visiting the restaurant I was noticing the decorations on the walls. The environment is very comfortable. From the rumors I hear, restaurants in Custer close earlier for the night. Nevada and Arizona have more late-night entertainment. As we were going by on our bus I saw a nice little pizza restaurant close to Maria’s Mexican restaurant. Custer is most certainly a place for country comfort. Maria’s Mexican restaurant serves soup, fajitas, tacos, burritos and not much else. The restaurant could’ve done better with sauces and spices. We have to keep in mind that this is a Mexican restaurant in a small town near lots of trees near Mount Rushmore. I was enjoying the experience late last year around fall schedule. It was easy to be happy with other guests and the hard-working crew. In fact, I was waiting a long time for my beef steak fajita because the restaurant was working later than usual. It was a privilege to taste their wonderful steak and sauce combination. Our trip was still exhausting for me a week later. You can get drink refills, hot soup, and people who go with the flow. There was so much excitement for all of us, and, we were hungry for another bite. I’m already very familiar with the basic Mexican food items such as tacos and burritos and I hope customers really enjoy them in this part of America. They should get more nachos. That’s for sure! I’ve been to better Mexican restaurants. But, for the pleasure, and, for the trip, it was a memorable moment at Maria’s Mexican restaurant.”

“Our favorite restaurant was Wine Cellar, but after eating at Skogen, this is the best that we've been to in the black hills! This is fine dining at its best, but the atmosphere isn't pretentious and there's no need to dress fancy. The flavors of everything we ordered were outstanding, to include the popcorn ice cream! The waiter was fantastic and very educated on the menu items. 5 stars well earned!!”

“Our server Hector was awesome. We had steak tacos which came with corn tortillas, Spanish rice and beans. Lamb chops that came with mashed potatoes and corn. So flavorful, tender and had me wanting more. Tried the burro mule and a margarita. If I come back through I will definitely make this a stop on my list. Everyone here was genuinely and friendly.”

“This place is just really nice to sit and relax when having Lunch! Plenty of seating for your party. Our waiter Carlton was excellent. Very attentive and courteous which says a lot about the service! The food is also really good and with generous portions to make sure you do not leave hungry. Nice atmosphere, great service, good food equals a memorable time! You can't go wrong here.”

“Delicious pizza. I got the bacon, chicken ranch and was delicious. Husband got the kings classic and loved it. Got side salads which had a nice variety of vegetables with it. There was an artist in residence and I bought a picture from him. Beautiful photography.”

“I LOVE this place. The owners and staff are kind and wonderful people. The hot food specials they make are incredible, and the sandwiches are portioned amazingly for the price. The salads (pasta, potato, anti pasta I’ve tried) they make are delicious and fresh. 10/10”

“Been looking for a TRULY GREAT burger since we moved to the Black Hills ten years ago and finally found it at Burger and Bun! Everything we ordered was delicious and had layers of flavor. You can tell every offering on the menu was created with love, care and attention to detail. Thank you to the owners and staff for making our experience one to look forward to again.”

“Food here was delicious!! The service was amazing and I wish we could go back! They offer a nice menu with decent pricing to start. Very nice dining with a awesome book shelf with games to play while waiting. All of our food was perfect. The restaurant is also connected to a very neat store!”

“Denial is a great spot for a casual drink (or more) on the beautifully decorated and comfortable patio or inside the cozy casual indoor seating areas. The drink menu consists of a variety of local and non-local wines, beer, and fun wine mixed drinks. The food menu consists of lighter fair (though you will NOT go hungry) such as a few different charcuterie boards as well as a soup. If desert is more your cup of tea, they also serve desert tasting boards. There is a small shop at the front of the tasting room that offers free oil and balsamic tastings, as well as selling locals cheeses, gifts, and of course... wine by the bottle! If you are looking for a laid back spot to enjoy live gentle music on the patio, or a few drinks inside to beat the heat, Denial is a must visit! Pet lovers - dogs are welcome to also enjoy the shaded patio. Water bowls and biscuits are available outside!”

“We planned our black hills trip around the hours of restaurants, this lovely place opened in April and came highly recommended. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and lovely! Elevated dishes with surprising flavors that make you want to keep eating long after your full! The Bellini flight was AMAZING and a fun experience. Delicious coffee and great wine menu. Staff and owners were wonderful and friendly! Will definitely be back!”

“One of my favorite music venues in the Black Hills. Outstanding food, chill atmosphere, and great local beer on tap. One of the best middle sized live music venues in the hills with acts every weekend along with other activities thruout the week. Definitely worth the trip.”

“We had lunch and dessert. The chicken pot pie had a non-traditional presentation (it was more like a chicken stew with crust mixed in) but it was delicious. The French Dip sandwich was completely average. We tried both the cherry and peach pies ala mode. The pie crust was obviously home made and was very good but the filling for both pies seemed out of a can. The vanilla ice cream was neither creamy nor particularly flavorful.”

“The ambience was funky and cool. Our server Elle was amazing. Not only did she give us delicious food suggestions but also gave us beer samples to figure out what we liked. Food! 1. Avocado hummus - fun unique twist with carrots and celery 2. Chicken wings , pretty good and spicy 3. Grilled Mahi with fries and coleslaw. I'm from a beach town and can be snobby with fish. Not only was it moist and tender but also flaky and perfectly seasoned. We enjoyed everything and the staff was amazing”

“It wasn't bad. Server was really nice. The food, that we ordered, was frozen to deep fried. I think it was a bit pricey as nothing was actually prepared there. Frozen shrimp, fish and fries....deep fried and served on fancy plates.”

“First time visiting South Dakota. Everywhere else had sucked with the food. I came here as a last resort and wasn't disappointed. The frontier burger was absolutely delicious and juicy. The staff were super friendly and gave me a refill without me having to ask. They came over and asked if the food was alright and if we needed anything else. Definitely awesome service!! At the end, we ended up talking with the Staff and chef for a bit. Thank you so much and I'll make sure to come by again when I return.”

“In town, found this place via Google. Had a bunch of great reviews. Not often places live up to the hype. But this place exceeded. If you’re vacationing here and have any appetite for chicken, stop here! You won’t regret it. Crispy deliciousness for the batter. But unlike other fried chicken options, the chicken is not dry. Definitely juicy as advertised. Also got the potato wedges. Forgot to ask for ketchup, but to our surprise they didn’t need any. Fantastic flavor and stood on their own. Also got the baked beans. They have a mild spiciness that brings out a classic food but with a unique flavor. I could go on and on. Place is easy to find just south of highway 16 on Centennial, but do need to keep an eye out as it is a small location. No dine-in but there are picnic tables if the weather is nice. If not there is a drive through. 12 piece was more than enough for a family of four. We probably could’ve even went with the 8 piece given the two sides. Regardless, very reasonable price for the amount of food. Service was excellent too.”

“It was SUPER busy I think the whole town of Pringle was there (maybe even the whole county) but definitely worth the wait. My husband had the catfish and he said it was the best he ever had, (I had a bite and agreed it was good and I don't like fish). I had a burger and it was definitely not from a frozen patty. Oh and we didn't try any of the dinner danglers but if that's your thing I bet they're great! My husband was worried because We did leave the cash on the table. I tried to reassure him that we weren't in Chicago.”
