“Sometimes it seems cliche to give a place a perfect score... you might have had a good meal, but maybe it could have been better. The staff were nice, but that is their job, no? I have been thinking about what I wanted to say about Taqueria El Serranito... I guess we'll get the easy stuff out of the way: the food was amazing (I had a pastor quesadilla and my wife had 2 bisteck and some charro beans), the family that runs this place were super nice and welcoming (seriously, thank you so much for being so great), and I will be making trips back here as often as I can. Now to be a bit more in-depth, the pastor took me back to my time in Mexico... it was top-notch. For $8, the grande quesadilla was extremely filling and it hit the spot, and the salsa that came with the tacos complimented it perfectly. As for my wife's order, In her own words, "I have not had good charros since leaving Corpus Christi" and she was eager to try them. Once we got our food, she opened up the beans and smelled them, and then proceeded to make everyone else in our group smell them, as well. She drank the beans in the parking lot before we walked off and immediately wanted more... they were perfect. Once we got to sit down, she was all over the bistek and thought that 2 maiz tacos were filling, but they were also so good she wanted a third. Before we left, we both agreed that we need to come back... I want to try the whole menu... and based on what Marco said, i'll be getting burrito next. Thank you, again, Brenda and Marco for making our group for welcome, and we hope your Mom has all the success in the world. We will definitely be back.”

“Found this place on DoorDash and not going to lie I thought the reviews were hype but they are most definitely not. Ordered a custom half/half with BBQ sauce and stuffed crust the Cajun chicken and sweet corn are a perfect pair of sweet heat with the bbq sauce. The pizza arrived cold and we didn’t even care we ate it so fast wish I could have taken a better photo. Also the meatball fries are a must!”

“Man listen… it’s hard to find a good gumbo. The shrimp gumbo is THAT! so damn good I was licking the bowl after wanting more. The turkey neck plate was also again, amazing. One of my new favorite spots. I ordered my food at 1 am so this place is late night. Win.”

“We tried this at Lago Mar as it was convenient. The staff were very helpful, polite and accommodating. The food was really a great surprise. The gumbo roll was my favorite! Well, besides the fries! We also had a lo menu bowl and a few rice bowls that were all really good as well. Nothing disappointed! They were perfect and we actually went back several hours later for more food it was so good! (And yes, there were other options available.) The staff were gracious and kind and it was quite a refreshing experience overall! Worth giving them a try if you ever have the opportunity!”

“Was hankering for some Nigerian food tonight so ordered from Dupsy's Kitchen which recently opened and operates out of the ghost kitchen concept in Blodgett Food Hall (i.e. it is not a sit down restaurant). I had some egusi stew (a stew thickened with dried and ground melon seeds) that included spinach, collard greens, red pepper purée, cow skin, tripe, crawfish, and palm oil. Also present was peppered chicken and the obligatory poundo (pounded yam). I may not be a Nigerian food expert, but this also wasn’t my first rodeo, so I can attest that the food and its flavor were excellent. The only drawback was that it wasn’t very spicy, which is something I normally encounter and expect with Nigerian food. Regardless, I look forward to ordering again in the future to sample some of the other stews (designer, efo riro, beef) as well as other traditional Nigerian dishes like jollof rice, fried plantains, meat pies.”

“A few weeks ago, I went down to the Blodgett Food Hall to try Erk and Jerk. I saw a post from the owner and wanted to try the Chicken pasta. My husband and I both ordered the Chicken pasta and I also ordered the jerk fried wings. When the pasta came out, we were disappointed. It was dry, lacked any real flavor and looked nothing like the pasta in the previously mentioned post. The fried jerk wings were delicious though. Fast forward a couple weeks, I saw another post from the owner. I commented about my experience with the pasta. I wasn't looking for anything, just wanted to provide some constructive feedback so that he wouldn't have more disappointed customers. He apologized and informed me that he was training new cooks and offered me another pasta on the house the next time I stopped by. Fast forward to yesterday. I texted him to let him know I was coming down. There was a bit of delay, but, he came out personally to ensure me that my food would be ready soon. While I was waiting, he brought me out some jerk chicken tacos to try. He gave me enough pasta to last two days! Customer service is everything and I feel like he went above and beyond what was necessary in order to right my wrong. Everything was good.....the pasta, tacos and fried jerk wings.”

“My first time ordering from this spot, and wow, just a wonderful experience. The food reminds me of home and mom’s Sunday meals. It’s so exciting to see a Haitian restaurant pop up in Houston! Looking forward to dining in next time.”

“I’m from south Florida and Sonia’s is the closest have had to authentic Haitian food in Houston. The griot was very tender and moist and the rice is good as well. This my second time coming here and I hope they keep up the great quality food.”
