“My wife and I visited this location on the day after their grand opening on 12/10/2019. They are still busy ramping up, but the staff was friendly and our meal was good. Their primary activity is their drive-thru which had a steady stream of customers before and during our visit. “This is a new location. We ordered 3 fish sandwiches with fries and drinks (2 sodas and 1 latte). The food was hot, fresh and the order items correct. The location was very busy, especially drive thru. It was about 12:15 on a Sunday. I ordered a double fish. I wish 2 pieces of cheese were included. And as others have commented, the fries are great when they are hot. But as they cool, they become less desirable. IMHO, I believe most of your customers know about my fry assessment.”

“Good food, good company. The hostess was quick, the drinks were in our hands within minutes, and the food was hot and delicious. The modernized building provides a fresh look to an already attractive interior decor. The empty tables were all clean, and the dirty dishes at occupied tables were quickly removed. “Didn't have high expectations because it looks a little 'polished' compared to my go-to Mexican restaurants. Ordered a margarita and the street tacos and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of everything! Staff was really friendly and attentive, and the margarita was tasty and potent. “The pizza is usually available quickly and the order is completed as placed. We enjoy the pizza and the service is usually very good. We are frequent customers and pick up our order. A few times we have not received the complete order and when I called the store they asked me to come back in and pick up the item. I asked for a refund on the item instead of driving 40 minutes for the item. The young man said OK and hung up—we never received the refund.”

Definitely a nice comfort food spot, and the pies were delicious too! The portions are very big, so be ready to take some left overs home. I also recommend the Fried Pickles. They are a little greasy but very good!”

I could go on about how everyone really enjoyed the food, and I tell you how friendly and professional the owner is, but to keep things short, I'll just say that we are excited that The Heart of Texas Barbecue will be catering our wedding. 8 months later... Post-wedding review... Everyone loved the food. My wife and I, as well as out 120 guests, could not have asked for better food, or service. “The service has been really, really slow lately. The past couple of times I've taken a family member from out of town, we've had to wait up to an hour for food. Last time it was over an hour and we ended up leaving. I get things happen, but not once did our waitress update us. She sat us down, took our order, said it would be about 20 minutes, then disappeared. 45 minutes later we had to flag someone down. She said we were next. Half an hour later and nothing, not even an update. It was disappointing. We left and ate somewhere else. I'm giving 3 stars because they always seem to be more timely with large parties in the back, so the few times I've been with a group, it was fine. Food is pretty good.”
