“This was a fantastic surprise! We broke up a trip to Maine by overnighting at the Vermont House in Wilmington. The Alpenglow was new since we last stayed here through winter 2020. It helped to be walking distance when the cocktails are this good! Food was fantastic quality, accompanied by friendly efficient service. Creative decor and a great vibe. Schnitzel was top of our list but the Apple strudel was a children favourite. Well worth the visit!”

“We had a fabulous time at the inn. Everyone was so friendly, rooms were comfortable and big, loved the Jacuzzi bathtub. After a busy day of snowshoeing, tubing and snowmobiling, we kicked up our feet and enjoyed the warm fire in the sitting area. Another great option at the inn was the privilege of using the Hermitage Club amenities. Lots to do. We highly recommend staying at the inn.”

“We had a wonderful dinner out on the patio at the Mockingbird Tavern! They followed all COVID precautions and we felt safe eating there. Everyone loved the food! “It’s great to see Smokin Joe’s back in business. They’re in between Brattleboro and Wilmington on Rt 9 in Vermont. Excellent smoked ribs, chicken and pulled pork. Plenty of Southern Style sides like collard greens, beans, Mac and cheese, home made slaw and of course BBQ sauce. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. They used to be located on RT100 in Wilmington and we missed their great food when they had to shut down after Hurricane Irene hit.”

“Played here for the first time with Safari Club on 7/11. What a great experience! Course was in excellent condition from tees to fairways to greens. Course layout is very interesting -- no two holes are alike. There are mostly tree-lined fairways and several elevation changes, but all-in-all, a very fair course, as fairways are decent widths. Staff was extremely accommodating from the time we arrived and throughout the day. The buffet that they served us was excellent! Whenever any of the food items got low, the staff was right there with refills. Highly recommend this course, and looking forward to returning there in the fall during foliage season.”

“Best place around by far. Everything is always consistent and great. All of the staff work together incredibly well and are very respectful and friendly. Most have been there for years. They will get to know you with in just a couple visits, and it soon feels like home. Though many places near by seem to be constantly raising prices and cutting portions, Tad has made a point over the years to keep his prices fair, as well as offers specials almost every night, so there really is something for anyones budget. He cares about his local customers in a way few do. Whether you want to sit in the dining room and have a nice or romantic dinner, or in the tavern having drinks and wings, they will take care of you and provide the experience you want each time. If you have had a bad night elsewhere, they will go above and beyond to ensure that the positive experience with them will have made your night worthwhile in the end. “Ambiance is incredible. You feel like you are eating in a best friends home. The preparation and flavors rely too heavily on the local ingredients without thoughtfulness. If you only are concerned with farm to table then you will be happy here. In order to get your or five stars I would expect flawless service (waited 10 minutes for our drink orders) and pork cuts were different than what was ordered. And also expect the food to be of the highest quality (tender and tasty) as opposed to just local.”
